Re: Gigiabit routers??? Why do you even need a gigabit router? If you really need more features either run a separate computer using one of the many softwares available for this task, or buy a normal consumer router. What are you trying to gain by having a gigabit router?

Re: Gigiabit routers??? If you have 2-4 computers its easier just to have a router with a 4 port gigabit switch built-in rather have a modem, router and then a switch. In my parents house it goes cable modem, gigabit router, 16port gigabit switch and then theres 2 5port switch through out the house.

Re: Gigiabit routers??? I don't NEED a gigabit router, I want 1. I have a gigabit NIC, and it would be nice to have gigabit speeds with other puters in the house, especially in the garage. That and the other features in that router look good, not to mention a decent price. If I get the router, I can do away with the switch in that cabinet. That way I'd just have a modem and a router to connect everything. As for the magic IP, AT&T's tech support had no idea what I was talking about. Even "level 2 support" had NO IDEA WHAT PORT FORWARDING WAS!!! OMG, they might as well be trained monkeys!!! The sad part is they pay theese people and it raises the price of my connection! ![]()

Re: Gigiabit routers??? It doesn't give an option for different logins. The only thing it asks for is a modem access code. I've READ NOTHING about alternate logins, including using port 81. I've seen LOTS of different tricks for trying to log in to different devices, including TELNET! The modem rejects terminal logins flat out, on both public and private IPs. I've tried lots of different private IPs to log in on, and no response. I'm no stranger to configuring network devices, including giving my puter multiple IPs to get in. The modems that aren't CASTRATED get all options from the standard log in. ![]()
