| Inspiron 8100 USB Cable Modem Driver Hey guys. I'm trying to breath new life into my laptop, so I've reformatting the Harddrive, and installed XP Pro. Unfortunately, the ethernet plug doesn't work, so the only way I can connect to the internet is by using a USB-to-Mini ethernet cord (you know, the OTHER cable form factor that plugs into your cable modem). I've ordered a new modem for the laptop to see if it'll fix the ethernet plug (I think it was killed by a power surge?). Anyway, whilst the USB port worked for connecting to the internet with my old OS install (Windows ME bleh), it doesn't seem to be working with my new XP Pro install. It detects new Hardware, and displays it as "USB Cable Modem" but it can't load any drivers for it. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

| OK, I understand now. I had to download a USB Cable Modem driver from my cable company. Found a link here: Where can I download USB cable modem drivers? Unfortunately, they didn't have drivers for my Motorola SBG900, but I found those here: Support and Downloads |
