| Linksys routers enjoy meal of cable modems I came across the following links on the net the other day concerning Linksys routers, and most of it isn't good. Linksys routers, enjoy meals of certain cable modems, including a Linksys Cable modem I own, that was connected to a Linksys BEFSX41 router. This mess has been going on for over 6 months. What would happen with my Linksys Cable modem, when it was connected to the Linksys BEFSX41, is that every so often it would get knocked off the net, and get really hot when it's plastic stand was used. I've since replaced the Linksys router with my Netgear FR114P router. Some of the other cable modems that Linksys routers don't like are Toshiba PCX1100, the Motorola Surboard series, starting with the SB4220 cable modem. http://www.daleco.biz/articles/routed2.html http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...e=flat;start=0

| According to the one link, you can solve most of the problems by putting a cheap network hub somewhere in the chain of devices. I wonder if some of the problems aren't firmware related in either the router or the cable modem. I'm just glad I was finally able to solve my problems. I've since had my cable provider provision my Linksys Cable modem back into the system, and everything works perfect. I really though I had everything solved by leasing a Com21, but in another thread I found out otherwise. I should not have cussed out my Linksys Cable Modem, but Linksys Techsupport, I can honestly say stinks like 4 week old lethal garbage.

| Actually, reading those posts on DSL reports shows that the culprit is the ATT SB4220 cable modem, not the routers. |

| Ouch.... That is scary because I have both a Linksys Router and Cable Modem. I have had zero problems. I guess I will check on the heat situation every once in a while just to make sure.

| I thought I would post the information. Here's the strange thing, according to some of the later posts, the problems can be resolved by putting a cheap network hub somewhere in the chain of devices.

| I run both the BEFSX41 Router and the Surfboard 4220 and haven't experienced any problems with them. Hopefully it remains that way. |
