| quick question about multiple ip's ok my cousin runs a very small business with 2 computers they just got a 2nd ip for whatever reason and want me to come in and make sure everything is up and runnning its road runner business class and it goes from the modem through a wrt54g into a switch which the 2 computers are connected to right now the router is acting as dhcp for the 2 computers and not handing out the 2nd ip so I just wanted to know what order I had to rearrange things and if I had to disable dhcp on the router altogether just to get that 2nd ip to the other computer |

| Re: quick question about multiple ip's Your correct with the router hadling the ips on lan side with DHCP handing out the IPs. One way would be set each of the 2 pcs with static ips. You would setup the router to handle those 2 static ips. This way you still get the benefit of the NAT security in the router. I would also suggest mac filtering for the 2 pcs. This would provide a pretty good secure setup for the pc network. If the 2 pcs use wireless don't forget about wap/wap2. If you run into any problems with a second IP and Business class you should be able to have RR TS help you if you think the would be of some value.
