| Wife and I bought a lakehouse recently. It's very nice to get away and unwind but adding Satellite TV, Cable (if we could get it) and high speed internet isnt cost effective at this point. Maybe soon. I see a couple of my neighbors have wireless routers but all secured! Dang it! Any suggestions on which of the following would suffice? 1. I've thought about a Satellite TV w/ highspeed internet but since we're only up there at most twice a month, it's not cost effective. or 2. Anyone using Mobile Broadband? Expensive I know but at least it would travel with me. Thanks! |

| I have several clients using a verizon card and tey seem to have no problem when they are where there is no other connection availabe. One is in Montana and travels a great deal.

| I recommend using the "coverage" maps provided by Sprint, Verizon, etc... to make sure they have coverage in your area.

| Thanks guys! I checked verizonwireless last night and discovered the price for the card is a give away when you commit to 2 years so I'll study more on it. Thanks again! |

| The cards are not that fast unless you are in a city area that has wireless broadband - up to 2Mb I think. Otherwise you are looking at 200 - 500Kb. Good enough for mail but slow enough to bug you when opening up websites.

| I built a "cantenna" that was quite successful with range measured in miles! Loaned it to a guy from work (last time I ever saw it) when he went on vacation in the mountains. He was able to connect to the campground hotspot at quite a distance with a connection good enough to watch video on his Slingbox! Bet the neighbor will be happy to make you a user for a few bucks contribution. Raise the question with a case of his favorite beer in hand. |

| I'm doing some testing with a Sprint S620 card today at work. For the heck of it I did a speed test: 405K download, 244K up
