using two wireless routers

Just got my new system and i want to put my old system in my moms room. Currently at best buy they have 802.11B routers for 10 bucks a pop. I was wondering if i connected one router to my PC/modem and the other to my moms PC, istead of getting her an adapter that is USB. mainly for the price and secondly i havent seen any ethernet adapters; isnt USB kind of wishy washy?

thanx much

If the routers support roaming they can act as a bridge. They would connect to each other crossing the distance between your PC and the point where your internet access begins. Other than that there are lots of wireless PCI adaptors available also for your moms PC if you don't trust the USB stuff. One obvious advantage of using a USB WLAN adaptor (not a WLAN dongle type!) is that you can put it somewhere higher than under your desk so the antenna is not covered by something (under your desk, against the room walls, the PC case). Using a PCI card you probably have to get an additional external antenna to put in the right position for maximum signal strength an quality.

I just bought one of these. I can't comment on the range yet since the pc is currently about 10 feet from the router but I'll be moving it quite far away soon. The card has a separate antenna with a 3 foot cord which is the longest I've seen that comes with a pci card.

Exactly what I meant. Having the external antenna out of the box is perfect. And the card isn't that expensive, too.
