| Can it be done? Do I absolutely need win3.11 wfwg? Are dsk3-1.exe and dsk3-2.exe, which I downloaded from the ftp site at microsoft, sufficient?. I do have an isa ethernet card. Will there be a driver problem? The first objective is just to be able to retrieve files on the 3.1 box with the other computers. If the 3.1 box sees the other computers, well, that's okay too. The network is running tcp/ip and netbeui protocals using Linksys nic's and the Linksys switched hub. Thank you for any hints, help and comments.

| winsock is an anchient 3rd part program which will get windows 3.1 on a dialup connection, how ever youll need to use all 3rd party programs to access other computers as well, like ftp or http, or even Mirc setup as an fserve (mirc still updates its 16 bit counterpart). wfw I belive still requires winsock to get on the net, but comes with tcpip network support (its a trick to install) for LAN usage. I had no trouble talking to my win95 desktop at the time so a win9x comp should be enough to talk to via netbeu |
