Analog Devices Exiting onboard sound market

Analog Devices, one of the better onboard sound codec maker's is getting out of the market, saying there isn't enough money in it, and that they will quit making HD sound solutions. They did say, they will continue to ship products currently on the market.

Re: Analog Devices Exiting onboard sound market

Could Realtek's dominance in this market with cheap, low quality audio codecs play a role in this? One of the reasons why I try to stay away from Taiwanese boards (Asus, Gigabyte, etc.) is their use of low quality components, such as Realtek audio and network chips.

Re: Analog Devices Exiting onboard sound market

This is one more reason, I got my Intel D975XBX2 motherboard. I've messed with Realtek onboard sound, and it quite frankly sucks compared to the onboard sound on my motherboard, and sucks compared to my soundcard.

Re: Analog Devices Exiting onboard sound market

Yeah, and they just came out with the so called ADI 2000B chip, which I suspect is actually a Creative XFI chip as the Supreme FX XFI card included with a lot of ASUS P45 boards, and some of the ASUS X48 boards, does EAX 4.0 and comes with all the Creative Software.

I've did a search on the net, and can't even find any information on the so called ADI 2000B codec.

Sandog, if Intel were to do a videocard, and it proved to be far better than an ATI card, I would definitely switch, and not think twice.

Intel chipsets and mobo's have proven to be more reliable than anything I've used before.

Re: Analog Devices Exiting onboard sound market

I'm surprised Asus doesn't put their own audio chip on their motherboards. Or at least a cut down version.

My Asus Rampage Formula manual says ADI 1988B audio codec.
