NVIDIA's upcoming Summer 2008 lineup gets some additional details

Later this week NVIDIA will enact an embargo on its upcoming next-generation graphics core, codenamed D10U. The launch schedule of this processor, verified by DailyTech, claims the GPU will make its debut as two separate graphics cards, currently named GeForce GTX 280 (D10U-30) and GeForce GTX 260 (D10U-20).

The GTX 280 enables all features of the D10U processor; the GTX 260 version will consist of a significantly cut-down version of the same GPU. The D10U-30 will enable all 240 unified stream processors designed into the processor. NVIDIA documentation claims these second-generation unified shaders perform 50 percent better than the shaders found on the D9 cards released earlier this year.

The time for bigger GTX 280 pictures has finally arrived. And this time we are talking about the entire card and a decent picture size.

The pictures are coming from PCPOP.com and shows the GTX 280 in its full glory. The big chip and the big PCB is all that can be seen so far, but at least the pictures are at decent size. The PCB is black again and the card need two power connectors.

Without further delay here are the pictures. Let's hope they are the real deal.

Based on the die size from that picture - maybe! Want to take bets on graphics cards moving to 12 pin aux connectors?

I had a heck of a time jamming a 9800GTX in the case. Wonder how big the next version be?

If it's bigger than the 8800GTX it won't fit in my Antec. That one clears with a fraction to spare and that's only if a hard drive isn't in the bay directly in front of it.

My 9800GTX is ~10.5 inches long. Much bigger than a 8800GTS. Wound-up moving my HDD's down and altering the HDD cage. The new one is suppose to be approx. the same length as the 9800GTX.

I believe the 8800GTX is just about that, at 10.6 (rounded off to 11").
If the new card is right at that, it'll fit.

Still curious about the pricing, the benchmarks and power usage.

Got mine on sale at NE ~$290.00. Went from 9400 to 13500 in 3DMark06.

Crysis in-game I get ~50FPS with all settings at high.

I also swapped-out my e6600 with a q6700. Added 2g of DDR as well.

Power usage is supposed to be slightly less than a 8800GTX. I have not confirmed that.

I was referring to the forthcoming GT200-series cards. Surely, you don't have one of those yet?

Sorry TQ - I thought you were talking about the 9800GTX. If the newer card is any good, I'll go the eVGA trade-up routine.
