Nvidia Rumoured to Introduce New Breed of Graphics Cards in July.

Just after Nvidia Corp. introduced its new high-performance dual-chip graphics card, rumours that it is going to have a very short lifespan re-emerged. According to some unofficial information, Nvidia plans to launch code-named new-generation graphics solution sometime in July.

According to a news-story by Expreview web-site, Nvidia plans to release its GeForce 9900 GTX and 9900 GX2 graphics cards already in July, just about three months from now. Unfortunately, the story lacks details and it is unclear what exactly will be released and what capabilities the new products can provide.

Isn't it April Fool's Day somewhere already? Malaysia, maybe?

Nvidia, what a joke, they're drivers are responsible, as it's been mentioned in another thread for the majority of crashes on Windows Vista. They need to get their driver act together, before they come out with a new series of videocards.

I could say the same thing about ATI, as several recent consecutive Cat releases would crash both Adobe Audition and Pro Tools... on XP in 2D.
It's only been the last two Cat's that have been reliable on my workstation.

For video, nVidia led the way with support for Vista and DirectX 10 and early adopters always face stability issues, so the fact that they had the most issues with Vista is of no surprise to me.
What else would anyone expect? The story that's been posted on the internet cites an "unspecified" time in 2007. I'd wager that was likely in the first half of the year and as we all know it takes at least a year to fully bake any new OS. Probably longer.
I remember the catastrophic problems I had with XP when I first loaded it on my workstation only a few months after it was released. It took me another year to give XP a second shot. Works really good now.

Re: Nvidia Rumoured to Introduce New Breed of Graphics Cards in July.

Personally, if this story isn't an April Fool's joke, I'm looking forward to see what nVidia's real replacement for my 8800GTX can do.
Even in DirectX 9.

Wrong, it was actually ATI who had working Vista drivers before Nvidia, and then ATI got Crossfire working on Vista. Originally Crossfire didn't work on Vista.

Nvidia's drivers weren't even ready for Vista, when Vista came out, and they had a class action lawsuit filed against them for claiming to be Vista compliant when in fact they weren't. It was all over the Nvidia forums, last year about all the problems with the Nvidia drivers and the lawsuit, which eventually went away, after Nvidia finally came out with working Vista drivers like some four or five months after Vista was released in January 2007 for retail purchase. Bet you didn't know about the lawsuit, Nvidia was facing for claiming to be Vista compliant within the first 6 months of 2007, when in fact they weren't.

Re: Nvidia Rumoured to Introduce New Breed of Graphics Cards in July.

I don't care who had Vista drivers first. All I know is that after ~10 years as an ATI loyalist, I just bought my first two Nvidia cards and will never go back unless NV screws up royally. ATI had junk drivers for the last couple years, and I got sick of being a perpetual, unwilling beta tester...

Well, no I've never heard of it. If it had been based in fact why didn't it go to court?

But if nVidia was first to bring DirectX10 compliant cards to market what's the point of ATI having the first Vista drivers if their hardware didn't support DirectX10? That's like losing your keys on 4th street but looking for them on 6th street because the light's better.

I'm also not sure I understand this sentence: "ATI got Crossfire working on Vista. Originally Crossfire didn't work on Vista."

I would assume that at some point Crossfire didn't work on Vista, then at another point it did.
This is a Zen puzzle, isn't it?

Ati released there drivers first before nvidia but that doesnt mean they worked 100%. Nvidia wasnt far behind in there drivers.

You think this is why Dell (supposedly) only sold machines with ATI graphic cards?

Was for about a month or so dell only shipped desktop machines with ati cards because of a driver problem with nvidia cards.

But again, ATI didn't have DirectX10 hardware at the time. What, then, was the point of having Vista drivers if your latest and greatest video card didn't support DirectX10, ostensibly the primary reason for moving to Vista?
