| Windows Home Server Finally Fixed The fix for Windows Home Server's broken file system finally is released to market Microsoft's Windows Home Server (WHS) is almost fully back in operation after about nine months of difficulty. The operating system marked the most troubled release of the last couple generations of Windows-branded systems. Now at last it can move over and perhaps fulfill the bright potential that seemed to await it when it was released Marketed as a home storage solution, and backed with hardware partners, Windows Home Server looked to be a very promising product, putting server style data backup in simplified form in the hands of the consumer. However, soon after its release it was found that it corrupted files stored on it. For a server, which is utilized primarily to safeguard data, data corruption is considered a "cardinal sin". | Re: Windows Home Server Finally Fixed I was thinking ... As a business idea, any thoughts on offering home server and HTPC's. Bring the system to a home set it up etc ... Most computer stores don't offer this or would touch it with a 10ft pole. I wonder if there would be a market ?

| Re: Windows Home Server Finally Fixed I think most people wont make the time to set it up or take the time to play around with the stuff.

The server itself is an absolute snap to set up...... It's getting "organized" that is the time consumer----that and setting it up to link properly with all your media sources like ipod, TV. etc...... You could sell your business as a "family digital life organizer"----come in set up their stuff, organize photos and video, show them how to use it......etc.

| Re: Windows Home Server Finally Fixed BTW------WHS with this new PowerPack1 update... As well as the nice update HP has just added with PacketVideo streaming technology...... Is... NICE!!! And the occassional file corruption issue seems to be totally solved....as well as 64 bit machines can now be added to the home WHS controlled network. It will be interesting to see if their sales start to improve again.... HP alone has put a ton of money behind their MediaSmart WHS servers.
