when has a small bug ever prevented Microsoft from releasing a product on time...they released ME without any worries

Well I think you should just install Vista and you won't have any of the problems you've been having.

Re: Windows XP Service Pack 3 available (for real this time)

This might all be, but I downloaded using the direct download link that was posted in the following thread awhile back, so I shouldn't worry I guess, as I already have it.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Now Available

Here's the direct download link I mention.

how big is the file for you?...I hear that on Windows Update the file size is around 66 MB while the standalone download is over 300 MB

seems like a really big difference...

Re: Windows XP Service Pack 3 available (for real this time)

I had some weird things happening when I installed Service Pack 3 over the top of everything else.

However, over the weekend, I ended up reinstalling WindowsXP, and first thing I did, after I got it reinstalled was to install Service Pack 3. It appears to work better this way.

that's the way I prefer to download SP3 as well...for Service Packs I always do a complete re-format of my hard drive before installing...less problems that way

I was able to slipstream the original SP3 but when I went to install with that CD it would stop during file install. If I recall correclty the file was named mdma... I am curious if you will have the same issue. If not.. how did you slipstream?
