| I have a screensaver. In fact I have several nice ones that I alternate every once in a while. I think they are pretty neat and a huge improvement over the basic Windows one. I posted a screensaver a few years back and after the post, several members jumped in to declare that they never use a screensaver because, if I can recall what they said, they are useless and just waste CPU cycles. Anyway, I like them and since they only come on when I am not using the computer, I don't see the harm. What about you? Yeah, you! Do you use a screensaver?

| Re: Do You Have A Screensaver? Yes, i use a screensaver at home and at work. It's the standard windows logo thingie, because i'm to lazy to select another one (or disable it). I was using the windows aquarium screensaver some time ago, but i figured that i don't want to look at my pc when i'm not using it so i no real sense in using a screensaver. Greetings Dru

| I have the screensaver set to turn on at 14 minutes of non-use and the power-off-to-video set at 15 minutes. That was my setup with my CRT and I continue with it with my LCD. |

| Re: Do You Have A Screensaver? Long ago I used several screensavers and switched among them once in a while. Recently, I am lazy and too busy to enjoy it. Now I just use simple screensaver from Windows, or turn off monitor. I want to sit down somewhere else, not in front of the screen, if I can, when there are things to do which do not need PC. At work, if there is some flashy or funny screensavers, people tend to drop by and chat, which makes me lose my focus and quietness. Cheers,

| I never set a screensaver on my main machine or my wife's computer. I delete all the ones that come with Windows (currently using XP Pro) and just have the monitor switch to standby after 20-30 minutes. At night, I turn the monitor off. On my son's computer I kept the screensaver that displays a slideshow of his My Pictures folder and use it to display all his artwork from the paint program and such for 20 minutes, then switch to standby. At night, the monitor is turned off. I like a nice desktop wallpaper though. BJB

| Re: Do You Have A Screensaver? I use whatever is there by default. As I recall, Fedora 8 has a bunch of random OpenGL graphics and Windows XP has that little "flag" icon that flashes on in various parts of the screen. Aside from lengthening the time, I don't fiddle with them much at all. Therefore, I answered the survey "yes," but I can't say I put much effort into it. |
