Question

I can't play flash games using the shockwave flash player in firefox. It says install plugin, i click next, i agree. when it gets to installing, it sits there with no movement. i waited 5 minutes. I have gone to the macromedia site and downloaded the latest version on my comp, and tried to install it, but it did not work. Also, when I go to a shockwave game in IE, I get a red X in the corner of the flash box. help! Im lost. :confuse2:

I had initial problems with the dl as well. Turns out that my hosts file blocks macromedia's dl site. If your using a hosts file, edit it with notepad and just delete the relevant lines. Worked for me.

HOSTS is in neither FF or IE, it is a Windows file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Where does FireFox keeps its cache (its equivalent of IE's "Temporary Internet Files")? It appears not be the same location that IE uses, judging by the filedates that I find there.

Thanks!

Is there any way in FF to shorten the address field and lengthen the search field? Kind of like the way you can adjust the length of the input field on the Google toolbar for IE?

Also, is there any way to sort the search engines in the drop-down? Or remove those you don't want?

Gotta say, I'd resisted trying FF, but it has a lot of good points. I'll prolly stick with IE, tho...

Qba73 figured out how to lenghthen the search box here:

FAST TRAX Tweaking prog??

To remove the ones that you don't want go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins and delete them.

Don't know about sorting them though.
