As an alternative - CopyLock is a great little program for removing files that won't delete. It's freeware.
Get it here

In Tools > Options, I have Firefox set to always open links in new tabs, rather than new windows, using TabBrowserPrefs. But only external links will open in a new tab -- same-site links always open in the current tab. The only way around this is to force a new tab with CTL+click. Any idea what the problem is?

Go to tools >> extensions >> select quick tab pref and click on options at the bottom. On the both tabs (user values, toggle values) that come up, you can force links to show in a new tab rather than a new window. Also under open links from another app, make sure they are both on "a new tab in the most recent window". Hope that helps.

Mike, here's another way - an easy way - to open same site or indeed any links in new tabs. Add the Super DragAndGo extension. Then left click on any link, holding down the left key, and "pull" the link. That opens it in a new tab. If you don't want it in a new tab, just a plain left click will do it. And, there's no conflict with Tabbrowser Extensions either.

Guys, thanks for the info. For some reason, the Quick Tab Prefs extension will not install (says it's not a valid package) and the Super DragandGo thing is not compatible with the current version of FF...

Besides the missing "Send Page..." command in IE, is there any extension to FF that lets you save as a single file (*.mht)? I know that's an IE-proprietary function, but I was hoping that someone had duplicated it...

Modify the Super Drag & Go to work with the newest Firefox. PCB posted a thread on how to do it in this forum. It's very easy.

I'll check it out -- thanks!

UPDATE: Editing the downloaded extention file threw me for a minute, since it came down with a .zip extension. After I changed it to .xpi, everything installed okay and the modded file is working well. Thanks for the help!!

I'm not sure if this has been covered in this huge thread, but I just found a very useful setting when opening links from e-mails.

By default, when you open a link from an e-mail it opens in the current window/tab your're using. This can be a pain as it exits out of anything you're viewing.

In Tools - Options - Advanced - Tabbed Browsing, you can select that a link from an external application will open in a new window, a new tab in the most recent window (my preference) or the most recent tab/window (default).

Nice!

Hi guys,

I'm new to FireFox and just migrated from Maxthon. Though, I got couple of questions. Basically they're habits I have built from Maxthon that I'd like to know if it's possible to do it on FireFox.
1. Any way for me to drag a hyperlink and it'll open a new tab?
2. Any way to just double click on the tab to close it?
3. I can't seem to open multiple tab from bookmark. All links opened from bookmark appeared in one tab. How do I make it so all bookmark I opened will open its own tab?

Thanks!

1. Super DragNGo Extension
2. Tabbrowser Extensions (you will need to set this action in the preferences)

Install those, and you will be able to set these preferences.

Jliao, look around both the FF extensions, at Mozilla and also at the Extension Room (a site in NL not associated with Mozilla that keeps all available extensions, even more than posted at the Mozilla site). There are hundreds of extensions, many of which will not interest you, but many which will be very convenient and make you realize just how well you can customize FF to your personal exact needs and preferences.

I got a question about the tweak network setting extension. For some reason, it will not save settings. I have tried to go into about:config and manually change them to no avail. What gives?
