| ???? Haven't seen that issue, except if your profile is corrupted. As to why that would happen, no idea for that either. |

| What happened to my Firefox?? All of a sudden I can't put any smilies in my posts here...and the none of the quick links work now... I had to post this with IE just to get the crying smilie posted... Of course the first question would be what changed...well - nothing I can recall...I just tried a reinstall over the top with no change.

| Try this Ozzie. I find that occasionally the FF broswer cache map becomes corrupted. When that happens, FF can behave strangely. Close FF. Then go to C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{random letters}.default\Cache. Delete all the files from that folder. Then restart FF and see if it is still having problems. |

| I cleared the cache as suggested and it had no effect on this issue. Other sites do the same as well - and only on this machine. When I click on a smilie, the screen goes to the top and sits there. I wonder if I should try a complete removal and reinstall.

| Next step, Ozzie. I posted a thread some time ago on how to migrate from v0.8 (or maybe 0.7) to 0.9 (or maybe 0.8) and save your passwords, history, bookmarks, etc. Follow that procedure, except that the folders are now in the new location for Firefox, not Phoenix. You will need to reinstall your extensions, so I would make a list of them before doing that procedure. That will delete your profile which may be corrupted in some way, all your extensions and themes, and do a fresh install but still save all your critical info. |

| Yup - I figured I was in for something like that...I sure would like to figure out what caused it. I deleted the profile (copied it of course) and all is well again...

| I don't know why the profiles occasionally become corrupted. I personally have only had that happen to me once. Fortunately it is pretty easy to correct and reinstall, the only thing that takes any real time is reinstalling all your extensions, but I keep a folder on my file server with all my extensions and themes installers, all updated for version, of course, so it really doesn't take too much time to do it. |

| I think what I'll do is get it all the way I want it - then backup the profile. This way it only takes a minute for a redo....that will take care of the extensions as well from what I'm seeing? Yeah - a copy of all the extensions would be good too...

| Why is everytime I opened a new tab, the cursor is default to highlight the url instead to the page? As of result, if I want to hit "back" right after reload (in the case of clicking an url wrong), I have the left click first before hitting the back button on my mouse. Thanks! Sorry for all the newbie questions.. :/ Last edited by Jliao : 01-10-2005 at 01:48 PM. |
