Cool Good Clipboard Application

Good Clipboard Application:

Hi.
I'm looking for a clipboard application which can satisfy my needs:
- contain clipboard history, ie record every (recent) text I have copied
- can save custom text strings (so I can paste them later easily)
- can manage/sort text strings (eg sort alphabetically/category, can use folders to contain different types of strings)
- have variables (eg %todaydate% = the date of today)
- It doesn't matter if it is shareware

Thank you!

The absolute end-all in clipboard managers is ClipMate.

Although I've used ClipMate for years (8+ years?), I still haven't utilized all of its advanced features to the fullest.

After using ClipMate for a while, you will feel almost incapacitated when working on a computer that doesn't have it installed. So, be warned.

There really aren't any comparable freeware (or even payware) utilities, though Yankee Clipper does provide the very basics as an extender. I have installed the YC free version on a few relative's PCs, but I could never get by with it myself.

I'm already incapacitated when I use another computer.
"Seamonkey + lots of my favourite extensions" are gone... what a pain!

Another one I found is Flashpaste.
Again it is not comparable to your recommendation either.

ABoard, do you know if Clipmate supports variables like %date% or %time%?

Virtual Collections - Shows you all clips captured Today, last 7 days, and last 31 days.

Yes.

See the online help file in general, and specifically, see the sections on Templates and QuickPaste format strings for info you are seeking regarding string replacement.

Both templating and QuickPaste formatting work to apply pre-defined formatting to your pasted clips, but each does it using a slightly different approach (maybe the developer wouldn't call it slight ).

By the way, though the Help file is pretty good, some of the explanations of various features may be difficult to follow unless you have the program installed and can apply what is being explained.

--------
Note:

The ClipMate single-user license covers usage by a single user on two computers.

* Update *

Still not even close to ClipMate, but a previously payware clipboard extender recently went freeware ... ClipMagic.

For those not wanting to pay for ClipMate, ClipMagic might be a good choice. I installed it on a relative's machine for them to try out. It installs fine and has some nice features. It has no nags or anything like that, just a small, innocuous "Paypal Donation" icon in the toolbar which shouldn't be too hard to live with.
