| Nero 7 Demo problem is fixed... Unfortunately, that is not the issue. NeroVision 4.5.0.15 is broken. After installing...I open every app to make sure it all works properly...everything good except NeroVision. Seems that the app either doesn't open OR it takes between 5-10 minutes to open. I only found that out because I forgot that it didn't open...and started to move on to other things...going about my business. Many minutes later...I hear the rumble of my hard drives...and viola'...NeroVision is open! ???? I noticed that when I try to run NeroVision...that my CPU usage jumps to 98% and then fluctuates between 64-78%. The people at Nero have fixed many minor problems and created a new BIG one. NeroVision oftentimes won't start at all...and then...when it does...takes many minutes...I e mailed Nero Tech Support twice yesterday about this major problem...but we all know how that goes...can take months for a reply...let's hope that they at least address the problem before my reply... System specs P4-3.2 GHZ on P4C800E-Deluxe 1 GB PC3200 Corsair SDRAM Two 74 GB WD Raptors on Raid 0 (Intel ports) ATI AIW X800XT Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Two IDE DVD Burners on IDE 1 and 2 (Benq and LG) There are seriouis issues with NeroVision and memory / CPU load. Someone at Nero blew this one... Bob |

| Yup your right on, Vision now takes almost forever to load. I could not get the update to work as I think the servers are getting smoked. I down loaded the complete setup package and updated that way. I also found that even though I checked the box to put a smart start link on my quick launch bar it did not give me one. See screen shot of process explorer. Between Vision and the System process its 100% cpu usage for sure. Mostly kernel time, weird. Just for the fun of it I imaged my drive back to a XP install before Nero was installed then installed the new build clean. Same results. Oh well Nero needs another patch for the patch, same old story. Quote:

| Does that mean you are unable to transcode video period? Or is the problem just from starting from Nero vision itself. In other words can you go around it by starting from smart start etc. Reason I'm asking is because I have often had problems with nero 7 where I could still accomplish the task but just not always from any starting point. Like right now burning rom always fatal errors on start but express works fine. Always been buggy since I had it. |

| I have not tried to use Vision to transcode yet so I have no idea if it works or not. Quote:

| Thanks Wonder. I threw caution to the wind and did the update. I don't really use vision but I tried it to see if it would work. As usual it seems with Nero it is just another utility with all the same things you can do from other places in Nero. However it seemed to work fine. A little slow in loading but more like 20 seconds not over 5 minutes. I don't use Scout. I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. It was a good deal for me as the update fixed my other issues. |

| the main one was burning rom failing to load. Not slow just instant "has to close" If I used express or went to "create DVD" from smart start it worked. The majority of the stuff I burn doesn't require any special settings however now and then I get something that needs a set of instructions that you can't set in express so nice to have it working. I still haven't had any issues with the update. |

| New build yet again 7.2.0.3b, maybe it fixes the Nero Vision loading problem? I guess I will find out.

| I just went to the "product setup" tab in the program menu and selected update. It downloaded about 2mb worth of patchs. Maybe better than uninstalling and reinstalling todays version. |

| I did a upgrade install and the file associations tabs in setup were blank. I then checked the MD5 checksum of the installer package it was fine. I then used nero clean tool to remove nero 7, rebooted and did some cleanup then ran CCleaner's registry cleaner rebooted the ran Registry Mechanic. Rebooted yet again then I installed Nero 7.2.0.3b the installer worked ok this time. Rebooted and started playing around. Well Nero Vision is still hosed and takes about 40 seconds to load. The installer still does not put a smart start link on my quick launch bar even though I told it to do so. Nero scout added it self to its own tool bar on my task bar. This forced me to run scout to disable it completely I hope. Looks like its time for 7.2.0.3c

| Yikes! yeah vision takes a little over 20 seconds still which would be about right between the FX/57 and AMD64+3000. So not intolerable but pretty slow. I had to get rid of scout from the taskbar the same way. Supposedly disabled by default but I had to enable it and then disable to get rid of it. I hate when stuff helps itself to my taskbar. That was on the clean install of the last upgrade not from todays patches which I just updated to. Still says 7.2.0.3 on the "about" tab no b. I don't use any quick launch icons (already have over 50 processes I need to weed down) so I don't know how that would work. I just run smart star from the desktop. I noticed Nero Showtime has a different if not vastly improved look and interface plus a few more bells. I didn't have the blank association tabs on the initial upgrade. Couldn't you still deselect all? I would rather associate as I need to anyway otherwise Nero would take over all media. I didn't notice any changes whatsoever with todays update but then I did not fresh install this time |
