which scanner software would you recommend?

Hi,

I've just bought the flatbed scanner Epson Perfection 4490 and I have problems with its software.
The problem is, I can not install the program Epson Scan. During the installation it says 'setup can't copy the files... C:\Documents and Settings\Takki\Local Settings\Temp\setup.exe'.
Not a succesfull setup.

But strange, because I can use the program Epson Scan.
The real problem is, I am missing one feature in the scan program of Epson. I miss the feature which lets me choose saving the scanned image as .TIF/.PDF.
Thats why all my scanned pictures are saved in .JPG with high compression now.

Who can help me? Before I contact Epson?

Or which good/professional scan software would you recommend for me?
Because this is a good scanner I bought. Just its software is not 100% working.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using Windows XP Pro with SP2.
2048 mb RAM
2,7 GB left on the C drive.

I would definitely call Epson. You should get what you paid for! You bought a scanner and its software and it should do what the box says it should do! Whether you go get third party software or not!

Your installation is probably being ruined by something that's running or some blown installation attempt that screwed up in the past. Shut everything down and clean everything up before you install.
