| What software can I use to..... What software can I use to access my computer from a remote location. I know that there must be a ton of the programs out there but since I have never done it before nor do I know anything about it could somebody advise me as to the best sofrware and most user freindly that I could get to get the job done? Basically I just want to be able to get files off my home computer from my computer at work. I am using Win2000 at home and Win98 at my office. And also, this will be done via a dial-up modem. Thanks for all the help!

| PC Anywhere will do the job, but perhaps it is a little overkill. You can just run an FTP server on you system. It is fairly easy to setup.

| How about VNC? It allows your to see your own desktop from a remote location, control the mouse...basically almost like you're on the computer. Oh, and it's free http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ |

| pcAnywhere is the one I use to access my father's computer which is on the other side of the Country. It's got him out of a jam a few times. Great program, I have been using it for years now.

| I convinced my employer to allow me to use Windows XP Pro at work. I have Windows XP Pro at home. XP Pro already has remote desktop. However, since you have Windows 2000 on your home computer, you might want to try terminal services. Warning: if you use an ati video card with a TV tuner-kiss the tuner goodbye-terminal services kills the tuner. |
