If you just need to burn data or audio files to CD/DVD's, try DeepBurner. The free version does not do some of the things that the paid version does (no surprise there). But I just gave the free version a try and it burned data files to a DVD with no hiccups. Will report back if I encounter any problems.

Well, maybe this has been posted before, but I'm not looking through this whole thread to find it!

It's a media download tool that seems to work very well - and most importantly, it's free

I don't know if this is posted here but Image Resizer, is really good and its free from microsoft Power toys...

Image Resizer
This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files. When resizing you can choose from one of four standard sizes or choose a size that you specify. You can also choose to resize the original image or create a new one. Right click any image(s) and select 'Resize Pictures' in the context menu.

It sure works well, I've been using it between 2 of my rigs, one has the scanner and printer (I also do all my editing on this one) and I use the other one to download my camera....before I found this, it was a real pain to keep both folders the same...

For those of you who want to email large files to others, but can't due to the relatively low size limits of most email providers, the free Pando utility will allow you to do just that. Using this software you can email a file as large as 1GB via any email provider, since all you're effectively sending is a small .pando file which links to the larger file stored on Pando's network for 14 days...

very nice!!

Posted these links on another thread, but figured they would be relevant here as well.

Quicktime Alternative

Real Alternative

K-Lite Codec Pack

The codec pack has a "Media Player Classic" included that looks like WMP did before it got all pretty and bloated and does everything that newer versions do. Not sure on the EXACT compatibility, but so far, I have not found anything it won't play.

They have tons of other cool stuff on the site as well.

Get the XP CD Install code from a non-booting system.

I found a program called Produkey that works perfect for this. Just slave the drive to a running machine (XP) and run the program from the command line (I'm using a batch file) and it gives you ALL the product keys on that drive! The one I tried it on gave me the MS office, internet Explorer and XP keys!

ProduKey - Recover lost product key (CD-Key) of Windows/MS-Office/SQL Server
