| Re: forgot bios password On some machines you cant remove the password. I worked on a toshibe desktop and removed every jumper and left the battery out for a week and the password never went away. |

| Re: forgot bios password I downloaded it and extracted the files... this is from the TXT file "Laptops | --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- On laptops, the password is usually stored in an eeprom on the motherboard, you need an eeprom programmer (electronic device) to retrieve it." |

| Re: forgot bios password Call Dell technical support, they will assist with removing the password. This is the only way to get passed the password. You will need to verify the account information first, but once that is done they will provide you a master password based on the challenge code that the system will provide. 1-800-999-3355 Use the Express Service Code found on the bottom of the system to ensure you get to the correct department quicker. The password is stored on a seperate chip and tools like cmospsw mentioned above will not bypass it.

| Re: forgot bios password i think if you re-flash (or update) the BIOS, the password will go away and you can re-set it. Anybody know for sure if this is true ? If you try it, please post and let us know if it works |
