Gateway laptop problems

Hello, I own a Gateway laptop model MX6030. For some reason now, it goes to the screen where it shows to go to safe mode, last known good configuration etc. But no matter what option i choose, it always comes up to a blue screen which stays on for about half a second and restarts after the Windows XP logo appears. Is there any way I can access my hard drive or recover anything after I format or possibly even fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

If you have the original Windows XP CD and not a set of restore CD's you can do a parallel install and get your data off the system. The other choice is to try a manual system restore. Again you need the original Windows XP CD.

Another option, buy another 2.5" drive and a 2.5" drive external USB enclosure. Take the current drive, stick it in the enclosure, then put the new drive in the system, run the restore CD's, attach the USB enclosure, copy the data off the drive, and then swap the drives around again and restore the drive. You don't have to do the last step of swap the drives around if the drive you bought equals the specs of the current drive or exceeds it then there is no value in swapping them back around. Also, another benefit is that you will have an external devices to backup your data onto so you have a backup system in place.
