I Want A Notebook!!!

yea.. i just graduated and i am planning to get a notebook for post secondary.. i need somthing that is ok speed.. like p4 speed...

here is what i look for from pirority(sp)
1. battery life(centrino? i know you people here recomend that cpu for batter saving..but i dont want to spend alot on money)
2. price (i dont have a set budget yet.. but it maybe around $1000 CAD)
3. Magnisum(sp) casing(its more durable i believe. Its going to be in my bag..and my bag would probally be thrashed and trashed lol)
4. Wireless(not g since my school that i am going to doesnt support g networks yet...)
5. USB 2.0 since notebooks are limiited with that they come.. i would like to be able to expand my variety)
6. IR for things like my phone and etc...

so what notebook would your recomend.. esp placeses in canada to buy

i may consider getting a used notebook.. aswell.. but if i get a non-mobile cpu.. would a larger battery have the same effect for battery life?

i throw it around while it is running, in the backpack with books, without books, etc no problems yet. although i am rougher with it because i know i can get a replacement and i get a new one in May.

it is a Hitachi HDD, it seems to hold up to the abuse pretty well.

I was looking at the dell site and if you can get an Insperion 600m or similar that should be ok.
