Looking to buy a notebook

So far I've looked into eMachines, Dell, HP/Compaq, Fujitsu, Acer, Asus, Samsung, and IBM notebooks. I'm not really sure what to get...I know what I want, but can't seem to find any that has it.

Here is what I'm trying to get:

amd athlon 64 (mobile/desktop) or intel pentium m
*ati radeon 9700 w/ 128mb or x600 w/ 128mb if at all available
*1gig memory, preferably 2x512mb or 512mb, 1x512mb upgradeable to 2x512mb ddr400 or ddr333
80gig hdd w/ 8mb cache if possible
dvd writer or cd writer, prefers dvd writer

or something around there...Am I asking for too much?

Dell has one on sale this week until Thurs for $2200 that is very close to your specs here:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs

It is a very good deal for the money. Includes a 3.4 P4C.

Yes....I think you are asking too much. I don't think you'll get a laptop with all that.

I still recommend Pentium M (Centrino) processors for laptops (last much, much longer on the battery).

I don't think there is ANY laptop with a video card even close to that! You "might" be able to find a 64Mb vid card....maaaaybe.

1 gig memory? That might be possible, though probably not common and I don't know if you can get a Hdd with 8mb cache or not.

I guess I was wrong...that one PCB linked to did have the vid card you suggested. I didn't think they'd be on any laptops.

There are quite a few laptops with a 9700 w/ 128mb. There's even one with 256mb. The dell laptop someone posted a link to is great...but im looking for a pentium m processor

I don have much $$ but I am considering this notebook. I dont really need one now but I will when I start school in a year or so. I think its a great notebook, 2.8GHZ P4 (533),64MB FX5200,512MB DDR 266,30GB HDD, CDRW\DVDROM, Wireless, Win XP Home and even a carrying case. It starts at about 1000 but when I got done ading my upgrades it was about 1400
