Looking to buy a Pocket PC any suggestions?

I'm in the market for a $400-500 pocket pc. Looking for something small and light in size, with a Microsoft OS. The previous one was an IPAQ, but the problem with it was that once the battery ran out for some reason, the whole memory would reset itself. On the older Cassioppeia there was a backup small battery which allowed to keep the info on the Pocket PC so it wouldn't get deleted. Any suggestions?

Any other companies besides HP/Compaq, Dell and Casio that make Pocket PCs with MS OS?

I just got a new iPaq 4150. It has a 2nd battery as a backup, and the primary battery itself is replaceable with a spare battery so you can use one while the other charges. They also have an extended life replacement battery. The WiFi and Bluetooth are awesome features in such a small form factor. I love walking around and connecting to all the unsecured wireless access points. It is the same size as the 1945, just tiny compared to my old iPaq 3670. I highly recommend the new iPaq's -

I bought an iPAQ when they first came out and had a zillion dollars worth of accessories, including a couple of George Mosquera's handmade Silver Slider sleeves. I sold the iPAQ in '02 and bought one of the first X5's. I much prefer the Dell device.

I would get one of the new, high-end X30s, even though my X5 still works great. But, I'm holding out for a VGA screen, which should be here in time for Christmas. And, I prefer the dual-format slots.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Dell, especially the slimmer units.

Ok I'm looking at the iPAQ 4150 and 4155 now. What's the difference between the two? One is labeled as Home User and the other as Business User. Is it the different in the software package or something?

Here's a good website that contains reviews etc. Not quite as good as this one though I have an IPAQ 5555 I really like.

The iPAQ 4150 and 4155 are the same unit, the final digit indicates whether it was sold via consumer or business channels.

PocketPCThoughts.com is another great site, as is PocketPCPassion.com. Been using them both, and Brighthand, for years. If you decide to go Dell, check out the Axim boards on the Dell support forum.

RE: the MyPal, the 716 got a great review last week, too. Again, check out PPC Thoughts.

I have a A620 it's a killer unit. But you better use it alot to get your monies worth. the A620 has enough grunt to watch movies that are compressed enough to fit onto a 1gig cf card. and also it's super swave for packet snatchin' in wifi hotspots LOL

But really it all depends on what you want it for and how much you want to spend.

I have a AXIM X5 myself and depending on what you want to do with it is very good value for a good price. The iPAQ's are generally more expensive but faster than the AXIM's... Like I said, depends on what you want to use it for.

Question... on my iPAQ 2215, the "backup battery" is said to really be just a reserved portion of the main battery incase it runs down too low, so that the contents of RAM is not lost right a way.

Does it work differently on the 4150?
