millions of little dead pixels

What the hell! My HP laptop (dv9000t) which I have often touted the greatness of it's nice rich display is sprouting dead pixels like zits on a teenager! There used to be just one tiny spot, and that was livable, but this is getting ridiculous. I have to check into my warranty, but unfortunately I did not opt for any extended plans so I am probably boned. Does anyone know what might have caused this? I have taken pretty good care of it as in never dropped etc. I'm just wondering why they seemed to sprout up all at once.

I hate to admit it, but yes...For whatever reason it decided not to shut off when I closed the lid and I put it in the case. I didn't know it until about 2 hours later and it was quite hot in there. It was still running so not hot enough for thermal shutdown, but it was pretty toasty. It crossed my mind as a possibility, but they seemed to sprout up a couple days after that and I had noticed a few recently before that happened. It looks like the screen is dirty but of course they don't wipe off.

Looks like Screen Tek sells a new replacement screen.

I would probably get one off ebay if I were to replace it. I just did that for another lappy recently though that one was completely destroyed. This screen is still quite viewable just annoying with the little specs here and there. Not worth the expense of replacing though I don't think.

Damn it, I was assured on my last interstellar flight that the negative neutrinos would not effect my electronics during faster then light travel. That's the last time I listen to those jokers!

my toshiba portege got millions underneath, along it!
so the heat is probably the culprit? what other things that can cause pixels to be dead or fault?
