Seeing as how we know where you work, I'm figuring it's a lot less than we would have paid LOL...
Nice outfit.

Re: My new laptop I just bought.

Thanks... Got it at 47% off built price. It was 1304 before coupons..

And about the hard drive, I replaced my wife's 600M HD with a 7200 version, and I could not tell one iota of difference between the two. Looking forward to see what kind of battery life I get with this Penryn CPU.

What was the old HD a 5400 rpm? I 've changed out a 4200 rpm to a 5400 rpm and it felt way quicker!

Re: My new laptop I just bought.

The 5400rpm over the 4200 was a big jump. But from a 5400 to a 7200 you really wont see a difference. But you'll notice less battery life with a 7200rpm drive.

Re: My new laptop I just bought.

Sweet price! I think a 5200 is what I have in mine and the HDD is almost always the bottleneck. The activity light pretty much just stays on. Vista probably doesn't help that much either.

Re: My new laptop I just bought.

I'm sure you've done some tweaking. But I find that turning off indexing considerably helps with the hd activity light. I also turned off superfetch which helps, but have within the last month or so turned it back on. Disc light has since decreased drastically and find that using it really speeds things up. Of coarse there are many other tweaks, but, I find those 2 things to help the most.
