pink screen?

have a thinkpad t43, which has been running very slow for several months now, and in the past two weeks the screen goes pale pink for a few moments when i turn it on. obviously it's not supposed to do that. so how do i run a diagnostic on the lcd, motherboard and the x300 card?
thanks...

never mind....it looks like the problem is the backlight. but it does look like it won't be easy to house-repair such a delicate item. has anybody replaced the backlight on a laptop?

I wouldn't be so quick on that, I had an ATI 9600 that went bad and the screen used to go pink from time to time...If I moved the video cable it would be ok for a day or so...
When I replaced the card the problem went away... I'll bet it's a cable or connection problem...

wiggle the laptop screen back and forth - do you have a loose cable?

It sounds like a loose cable to me. I have a 7900gtx and I have to use a DVI to VGA converter so the vga cable sticks way out and puts pressure on the converter. Because of this, the connection is less than straight. When it sags really low it likes to turn pink because not all the connectors are making contact.

So, just check out your connector first to see if that's the problem.
