Sony VAIO not powering up

I have a VAIO FS660/W which i spilled a cup of coffee on last month. It shut off immediately. I replaced the keyboard and then brought it to a laptop repair shop which got it working.

This morning is won't power on at all (same as before).

I get no lights at all when I plug it in (and I've tried with the battery only, without battery, and with battery and plugged in).

Any ideas as to what would cause a total power failure? I get no light displays at all.

thanks!

Nope - no smell.

And - no - they told me that they couldn't warranty it. They had it working pretty quickly so I'm fairly certain it's something relatively simple (which is why I don't wanna bring it back and pay 100 bucks for another month).

I have it open and everything looks fine. No scorched marks at all. I'm thinking maybe some sort of fuse? or possibly a corroded connector?

Your problem is if some of the coffe got in to an area where there is a lot of heat it may have cooked the coffe residue and now it's carbon which can have some resistance but maybe shorting what ever is in contact with the material. Other wise reside cal also be a insulator not making contact.

A last diych effort would be to take apart inspect clean and try.

Look for anu kind of brown or beige reside on the power connector. This is what milk and coffe looks like dry. If tyou don't take milk then the reside is darker. I hate to even think about the stuff getting into small cable or ribbon connectors. You probably would never get it out.

Laptop are selling for about $600-800 not Vaios but laptops never the less.
