| If they had you restore to an earlier date than most likely the fix is not your problem. Restore would have removed the fix. Describe how the printer is connected. I assume you have deleted the print driver and tried reinstalling. If the printer is USB I assume you have another USB device you can test with to see if it's the port or the printer. It would be nice if we knew things like error messges whether the prinout gets to the print que and whether the printer icon shows up in the sys tray. Etc.

| I stumbled across this website and you guys are really techies. I have a room temp computer IQ ...sorry. Computer was set up by someone else Nov 2005. All worked fine until this W-xp update was automatically installed...IE 7.0 version kb914440 and Hotfix kb926239. While chatting with my HP friends in Bombay they had me go to HP director, minimize and restore. Tried 9x, never worked. Nice guy explained it's the 7.0 and made ref to future patch (??) It was my own dumb idea to restore my computer, thinking it might magically fix it. I can print saved W docs, but won't print a thing from yahoo/verizon browser/web or email. No error messgs other than your browser does not support email attachments, which was never the case for my emails. I guess I don't have enuf info for you, so I understand if you give up!! Haven't done anything with the HP software, unless you're suggesting delete and re-install. But 3 HP reps would have suggested that by now. Thanks! You guys are too advanced for me.... | I know you don't want to hear this but why not try installing Firefox if your web printing doesn't work with IE7?

| I agree with 3of7 install firefox it won't hurt anything. You probably will get your print capability back. Another reason not to use IE. You can roll back your IE7 to Ie6 by going to the software uninstall and uninstall IE7. This will get back IE6 and your print problems will also disappear. But I think long term your better off installing Firefox and then you will always have a backup browser or who knows you may like Firefox better.

| Come on guys. Installing Firefox will not cure this guys problems. I have IE7 and an HP Deskjet printer and they work together OK. Clearly, something has become corrupted here and that is what we should be helping to sort out. Leave the IE/Firefox/Opera arguments out of this. boho17, trying installing your printer again. Go to "printers and Faxes" and add another printer. Go through the motions and install your printer again. Do not delete your "old" printer first. When you have done this, print a Test Page and set this new one as the default printer. Then try printing from various software applications. Report back with your findings. |
