I have the same problem. No matter what video card, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, X300 and now X800 XL with my VIewsonic VX900.

I havent' tried in a while but I think it's because of DVI...I remember when it was VGA it was instant.

Red face I've never had a problem!

I dunno what the deal is, but I get a picture right from the first screen of the video bios! I dunno why it wouldn't work for you, I can get into the bios, and it responds faster than my CRT did. Did you set the DVI plug as the main input in the monitor's menus??? Just go to the input selector when it's at the bios screen and see if it will show it. I'd say maybe it's something to do with the video card having one plug that's supposed to be the primary, and the other being the secondary, but it doesn't matter which plug I use (dual DVI). I dunno, I remember having to set the monitor to use the digital input with the on screen display. Don't be offended by this, but you do have to turn the power on before you can use the on screen display if the monitor doesn't come on in the bios. I think I remember having to do this before the DVI port worked @ the bios screen. :o

DVI-D is digital only and your boot screen is analog if you use a DVI-I dual link cable you can get the boot screen and higher resolutions. DVI-I has the cross prongs DVI-D has just one horizontal prong.

Red face Well, I'm using the single link cable.

The DVI plug is digital when there's a DVI monitor plugged into it. The boot screen is digital too, DVI simply bypasses the RAMDAC on the video card, and receives a direct digital signal. It depends on what's hooked to the plug whether the signal that comes out of it is digital or analoug. I'm using a single link DVI cable, the very cable that came with the L90D+, and the video bios screen shows up as soon as I press the power button. So, all you have to do is turn the monitor on @ the bios screen and select the digital input. From then on, the monitor should come on every time you hit the power button. My mom's puter does the same, and it's also a single link cable. It should work for you, if not there's something wrong with the monitor. :o

I have the same prob with my LG 1980Q monitor (DVI) where with my previous AOC LM-919 (DVI) i didn't have it. Both connected to a 6600gt.
I guess it's just a monitor related issue.
