Looking for a GOOD wireless all in one printer.

Ok, I'm looking for a GOOD wireless all in one printer scanner, copier, fax. There's actually something wrong with the HP PSC 750, the brand new color cartridge won't work at all, neither will the old one. I can't get her talked into just using my printer, which would make the most sense seen as how I've allready printed stuff from her machine on it through the network. So, I guess we're getting another printer. It's got to have a wireless print server built in that you can actually use the scanner from (which is one problem with an all in one on separate wireless print server). NOT LEXMARK OR DELL! It MUST have the ability to manually assign an IP to it. So, what do you guys recommend??? High quality photo printing won't be done often, for the most part it's going to print black and white. It NEEDS to have a reasonably sized black ink cartridge. Are COLOR laser printers affordable yet? I'm going to look around tonight, but I'll want some opinions first.

I have been watching color lasers for a couple years now. Ive had a monochrome laser for 4 years and absolutely love it. Only had to replace the toner cartridge twice in those four years and I have printed 3761 pages on it.

I dont need a color very often, but I would like to have one.

The HP C7280 is a sweet printer, i got my parents one and they love it.

I've been looking for the same thing for more than a year. Almost every review I read says the newer units are mediocre at best. Seems like the better-performing AIO's don't have wireless connectivity, and vice-versa. I also want something with a decent sheet feeder as well as the ability to do flatbed (which most sheet-fed scanners seem to have).

I'm thinking about a color laser! Hp has a nice looking color laser printer on their website, now that I'd be willing to run a network cable to! I've convinced her she doesn't need a fax, as often as we fax stuff she can use mine (HP5610) ! I'm thinking this is a good idea, all I have to do is run a network cable to it! No more INKJET PROBLEMS! Anyways, it's either that or the 7280. I just can't see getting the 7280 for the $300 they want for it! I'm going to look for better prices, but so far this is good to go. Why don't they offer a color laser printer with wireless network technology and a fax for home office use?!?! That would be the IDEAL printer!!!

Yeah, inkjets are a PITA, but I need something higher-resolution than this, on both printing and scanning. Plus a sheet feeder. For typical color printing needs, though, I'm sure this is great.

Well, I ended up getting stuck with the Dell POS printer. What absolutely doesn't make sense is it doesn't give you the option to assign the IP address UNTIL you get a DHCP address from something, and have the printer working that way. I found that all the sudden, options for assigning an IP address, disabling DHCP, and setting it up like a NORMAL network printer apperared AFTER it was working under DHCP! NONE of that stuff was available BEFORE I setup the DHCP server on the router, limited it to 1 IP address in the pool, and set a static ARP for it. WTH?!?!?!? Sometimes I wish I could SMACK THE CRAP out of the people that come up with this stuff. So, AFTER you go through all the trouble of making this POS work, you can assign it an IP manually. So, if I'd have known that, I'd have setup the DHCP server temporarily a LONG time ago just so I could get in there to do this. Under the TCP/IP options, there were options to set a static IP, turn off DHCP, set DNS, and default gateway info. I SWEAR that stuff wasn't there before it connected to something. Maybe it got an automatic firmware update or something. I dunno, it just annoys me, and there's NOTHING in the manual about assigning it an IP. So, now the printer is setup with a static IP, and works GREAT for a lexmark. I have to say, I'm actually satisfied with this thing so far. I couldn't get mom to return it, she procrastinated until 30 days was up, so we were stuck with it. I was getting annoyed because EVERY TIME the power went out, the stupid printer would assign itself an APIPA address (169.254.x.x) because the router wan't booted yet. So, I'd have to go in and get the printer to ask for an IP again. BECAUSE the IP was outside the house 192.168 network, good old Vista would decide to use the printer offline (this DOES NOT work) when my mom decided to print something! So, before it would work, I'd have to set the printer to online again , AND get an IP from the router

. This got to be OBNOXIOUS, so I accidentally found the stuff for assigning the IP AFTER it was connected while I was trying to figure out what was wrong with it. I have NO IDEA why they'd hide that UNTIL it's connected, but they did!!! So, now I have a static IP assigned to the printer, with a static arp entry so nobody can accidentally take the IP from it. Works GREAT, power goes out, and the printer no longer decides to take some RETARDED ARBITRARY IP from APIPA when it fires up again. So far it hasn't screwed up on the printer side though, it prints good, it doesn't eat ink, and it prints with decent quality. Not the best printer, but not bad either.
