MX5000 bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo

I have been having some serious problems with my old MX700 combo. Mouse is fine but the keyboard now goes through batteries every couple of days and the range is terrible like has to be within a couple feet. Really quite infuriating when the keyboard stops typing in the middle of something. So last night after very nearly smashing the keyboard against the wall (I'll do it too just ask my old Gateway digital camera ) I decided to order a new one and rather hastily ordered the MX5000 combo. I liked the idea of getting rid of the mouse and keyboard wires as it just has a USB dongle. If I have trouble using it for bios or whatever I can always use an old PS2 one. It has an MX1000 bluetooth model mouse which I thought would also be nice. Seems I might have been too hasty though. After belatedly reading reviews seems A LOT of people have had various problems with it. Some descibe the issues as having been resolved with new drivers but many don't. I am hoping that the majority of the negative reviews were from people who don't know how to update drivers. Just wondering if anyone here has this combo and what their experiences with it were. Thanks!

Well I guess not too many people here have this setup considering all the replies lol. I just got it today and I don't understand why there were so many problems from users (knock on wood) So far I haven't had any disconnects and it games great. I kinda like the time and temp display. Nice to get rid of the PS2 cables. I'll still keep the old one around of course. I don't know if it will work for bios etc. yet. Love the MX1000 mouse. Better then my old one for sure. Will track on anything. I think people were having trouble with using a rear USB port and getting interference from the case and all in it. I have front ports plus it now comes with a small one port hub you could bring the dongle to the front with. Also must be improved drivers. There is a sheet included that tells you you must download the new drivers for smooth operation. Knock on wood again but no complaints.

The G5/7 look ilke a glorified MX700 to me. I have nothing against it. The mouse isn't why I switched. I got tired of the lousy range and cut offs of the old keyboard plus sopmething was wrong it was eating batteries like crazy. I have to have wireless. Once you have a wireless keyboard and mouse setup it's hard to go back. I don't sit at a desk. I am usually reclined on my bed/couch and type on my lap. The bed is kinda a big mouse pad lol. Now I can take the whole keyboard into the other room and control music volume and even switch songs/playlists from there (used to have about 3' range no kidding) We will see though. If I had read reviews before I bought it I would NOT have bought it. So far I haven't had any of the problems reported. One of the big complaints was accidentally hitting the controls on the left but I don't see how. Guess I am in better control of my hand then some lol. It does actually work during post too. Got in bios no problem.
