Unhappy My MX510 died

Well, it's been giving me issues for about 2 months now and tonight it finally kicked the bucket. Now I'm looking for a new mouse... Any sugestions?

I'm want to go cordless for my next mouse and was thinking about the Logitech G7 maybe... How well do current cordless mice perform in games?

Why not get an MX 518 instead?

I looked at the 518 but that mouse has a tail... I wanna try and switch to cordless peripherals. Less things for my dog to disconnect when he hides under my desk...

Fair enough. I have a thing for disliking wireless items (except for the TV remote, of course).

I have a MX1000 just sitting in a box ...

I had replaced it because I thought it was defective.
Turns out the lazer sensor was dirty, I cleaned it with a Qtip ... good as new.

I have 3 MX510's ... great mouse.

I have the G5 and love it. The G7 is basically the same but you can't change its weight. I'm not sure what the G7 battery life is like though.

I'm not a wireless person either as far as peripherals go.

wireless rules. Once you get one you wont go back. I just got the MX5000 desktop but I can't recommend it as the keyboard has some quirks. The MX1000 mouse is sweet though.

I have had a logitech mx700 cordless for a couple of years now and love it. I would think the newer ones should be just as good. Battery lasts 24-48 - which usually isn't a problem because I don't think I use it for more than 24 straight hours without putting it in the recharging bin.

As far as games go, I can't tell a difference between it and a corded mouse. IMHO and experience, the highend cordless work much better than mid ranged ones in games.

I have two MX700's and they are OK.
On one system I use it thru a KVM and when I switch back and forth, the refresh rate on the pointer drops ...
I am using the M$ drivers in XP.

The only thing I regret is not buying more MX510's when they are selling at 29$ each last winter. The MX1000 is staying in the box for a reason ... it sucks.
Just to make sure it was not defective, I got another and tried it ... same thing ... sucks. (Rant off)

I bought my MX510 and a nice set of Altec Lansing speakers (marked down to $20 from $130!!) for about $50 total at Furture shop.... They have some really good sales every once in a while.

What about the MX1000 don't you like? It has had some good reviews and most people seem to really like it.

No matter which drivers M$ or logitech, it seems to need constant adjustment.
When you adjust to play games, it's crap on the desktop. The arrow is always flashing and it's hard to select a file in explorer. You move it 2 cm and it's off the screen ...

Actually a never realized it was that bad since it was on my son's system.
He complained it wasn't working right so I swapped it for a spare 510.
When I figured out the lens was dirty and offered to reinstall it, my son didn't want it back
Thats when I tried it myself and well ... it sucks.
