| OLD OLD installation problem Hi everyone! I'm one of those unlucky owners of CUSL2 that can't install a 9x OS because the setup crashes at 13-11 mins from the end. I know this is a problem of a certain number of CUSL2 and that the only solution is to change the mb. Since it's a long time I haven't visited your site, I'd like to know if there is something more that I should know, for example: are these mainboards recognizable by some detail (e.g. serial number or something like that)? Has ASUS recognized the problem and posted any announcements? It's only because my reseller won't believe me and so he will keep my PC for a month unless I can't demonstrate that the problem is true. Many thanks to you all leogawen |

| Well I had the same problem returned the mobo for a swap-out. Its an ACPI problem! You'll more then likely will be able to load W2000, but no other OS'es will load, period! There is a work around, when at the DOS prompt, where you type in setup, add the switch p/i, it would look like this, setup p/i. I belive that switch is correct, but its been awhile. Anyway a search of the forum will come up with the right switch. This will take ACPI from the equation! Still its a defective mobo and I WOULD RETURN IT! | I assume this is a PC under warranty, this reseller wants to keep the WHOLE PC for a MONTH?! geezuz, I can maybe see the MoBo being kept over for a month tops, but the whole PC? you should ditch that bozo and find yourself a new reseller, pronto. ![]()
