my digi cam fell and the zoom cant go in anymore !! you know when you're done with the camera and you close it and the zoom goes in well it's blocked !!
im so mad and sad right now. my mom said we'll go to a store to fix it but i hope they'll be able to.

is it going to be expensive to fix that and is that a major problem ?? i had to beg my mom like crazy for her to buy me that camera and now i broke it ...

What camera is it?
Maybe it is just a tiny piece that blocks the zoom, some sand, stone. If it is damaged it will be expensive.

Good luck.

My digital camera more than fell it stopped working altogether. I wasl all set to hear so sad too bad buy a new one because it is out of warranty and about 3 years old.

Instead Olympus said send it in and for $78 we will diagnose replace and recertify to factory specs within 10 days.

Well done Olympus. I haven't done it yet but I am going to.

Just thought someone might be interested.

fresh21-If you dropped the camera, it's pretty likely that you have damaged the lens zooming transport system, that is, knocked the lens out of whack. Set the camera on it's back on a flat surface. Check to see if the lens is tilted in any direction. It should be 90 degrees relative to the camera body. Look at a photo(if the camera can still take one). If one side(or the top or bottom) is in focus and the other side is out of focus, that's what has happened. In any case, I would guess that any repair is going to approach the cost of the camera.

I think the OP is funny, considering I post on camera forums where people own things that are not little $200 cameras, but instead several thousand dollar cameras, with thousands of dollars in lenses. These guys have had pretty bad things happen, or at least some of them, and they just deal with it. One guy on the forum does photorgaphy of paintballers, and he posted a bunch of photos of his lenses just destroyed by paintballs (thousands and thousands down the drain.)

Well, not everyone has thousands to plonk down on cameras or lenses all willy nilly. A damaged point-and-shoot camera is still pretty bad if it's all you have.

Yeah I had a Gateway camera that was damaged somehow when I accidentally slammed it on the floor. I mean you would think it would survive one little body slam! BTW Gateway has no business making cameras. Worse piece of crap I ever saw and it was not all that cheap price wise. It was found in a park so not like I bought it.

I supose, but with camera's being on everything these days, I wouldn't see it being that big of a deal. With P&S getting so much more advanced every day, I would not be all that ****** if I was an average consumer having to replace my product, because I'de have peace of mind I'de be buying something better. I am really amazed how well some technologies such as modern P&S are, I mean people do nothing more then push a shutter button and they get a photo that is actually half decent. You can also take some really good serious photos with P&S too.

Still, when I carry stuff around, whether it be my camera or my jacket, I know that something can happen, and if it does that I am most likely only to blame. No point in beating yourself up over something that's already done.

Easy for you to say when you don't have work to spend the equivalent of a weeks work on a replacement camera!
