| USB to ethernet adapter?? Has anyone seen or heard of any kind of USB to ethernet adapter? One that would allow me to connect a USB printer to a router so that it could be used as a network printer if the printer did not already have an ethernet jack? Does it exist and/or is it possible? Edit: Maybe I should further explain why I want this. The all-in-one printers I'm looking at are mostly USB. I can get one that will work perfectly for about $150, but it is a USB. There is a slightly upgraded one that has ethernet capability, but it is $300. I'd like to save a few bux if possible. Last edited by KingTermite : 10-21-2003 at 09:50 AM. |

| You could get a print server that has a provision for USB printers. DLink has one You could also just network share the printer, but the host PC would have to be on for others to use it.

| That wont work. It is just a USB Ethernet adaptor. You need a USB print server. here is a cheaper one

I think (I could be wrong) that you either need a print server, or a printer with a print server built in. I don't think you can just plug a regular printer into a router and share it. | |

| I've seen some USB-Ethernet adapters. But they're required to plug into a host PC, not a peripheral, according to how a USB port works. You need a print server to do that like someone already mentioned. I'd just plug it to a main rig and share it. No other hardware involve. That's how I have mine setup too. |
