Ricky and Pedro of Portugal become the first to break 4GHz with an AMD chip.

I don't believe so. But only a matter of time before people start benching at that speed. The new Venice core chips seem to be very good overclockers. And when the San Diego core (FX-57) is released, you'll probably see even more records broken.

Yeah, I've been watching the Venice chips. Was just interested if they were able to bench anything or if it was a suicide run.

The interesting thing about the record is the information on the CPU-Z page.

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=10680

Apparently they were running single channel (one 512MB stick) and using a 100MHz divider (CPU/28). So their RAM was running at only 143MHz.

It appears someone has also broken the 7GHz barrier. There's an obvious bug that CPU-Z needs to fix.
