Re: Benchmark utilities

And now it's a sticky. If you want anything added to the first post, PM. Or you can just add posts with any additional stuff and we can fix up links to those posts.

Could be a nice resource, methinks.

cool!!

just a further FYI for anybody using any of these programs

Prime95 small FFT is the best for CPU stress testing...just make sure to use version 25.6 or higher as it has native dual core support...enable Round Off Checking

Prime95 large FFT is a RAM tester

Prime95 Blend is a combo CPU/RAM stress test

Orthos is very similar to Prime95 with a different interface

OCCT is an excllent tool to stabilize memory and Northbridge. 1.2 beta 6 has been known to work best for a lot of people...set the slider on 'RAM', and launch it. Usually if your memory timings are too stretched, vDDR too low, strap too small or vNB too low you'll get errors within the first hour

3DMark series is more GPU dependent and not a true indicator of performance...the most accurate 3DMark test was probably 3DMark2001...and also Aquamark3 is more of a real world performance measuring stick

when using any of these programs make sure to use Core Temp or another temp monitoring program to watch your temps...and also set the 'Priority' to 9 or 10 in the Advanced Options settings

the longer you run the tests the better but make sure to run it at least an hour or 2 minimum (most errors pop up during this time period)...for max stability run it 6-12 hours or longer

new version of OCCT released...version 2.0.0a

OCCT Website english

OCCT seems to detect errors MUCH faster then Prime95...where it might take Prime95 8+ hours to find an error, OCCT finds those same errors within an hour or 2...excellent stability tester for both CPU and RAM

Thanks polonyc2. I've never used OCCT. Will give it a try.

Re: Benchmark utilities

Here's a nice Stable Test....Temps are good at full load...
cpu 1 - 58C
cpu 2 - 58C
cpu 3 - 40C
cpu 4 - 49C

And the picture you can see idle after the test complete, really good with that Stock cooler that comes with the QX9650, really I don't think you would get much better with after market, by the way my room temps where 71 degrees F....

there is also a CPU only test as well as a RAM test in the drop down menu...looks like you ran it on 'Mix'

the temp on Core 3 is only 14C?

It shows the CPU is underclocked. Intentional?

Re: Benchmark utilities

OCCT runs for like 2 seconds no matter what setting I have the test on.CPU,MIX or RAM test. CPU almost instantly gets to hot on my G1S Laptop.

Yes at idle with Speed Step enabled it runs at 2ghz but has soon has you need the power it steps up to 3ghz, runs cooler and uses less power.....less noise...They have had a problem with some cores running cooler than others, not that thats a problem to me, it could be not reporting the temps properly.
