What's up with the 8500? I'm sure you've posted on other thread about its performance but I'd like to know. I intend to buy one in the less than three weeks.

What major difference do you see between the 64MB Radeon and the new 8500?

Any Driver issues for you so far?

What's the deal with the other things...ie: DVD, Video in or out, FPS in games?

Does it get hot? Have you checked?

What clock speeds have you reached so far?

i got my Radeon 64 DDR SE up to 4236.
had her clocked @ 270/230, not a spec or flicker.
Stock score (198/198) i get about 3600

hey guys i dont know if this makes a diff, but when i was running dx 8.0a all i could get the radeon up to was 39something on 3dmk2k1 but when i installed dx8.1 rc2 i upped to 4236, i dont know but it did have a effect on my sys, havent had any problems either, oh FYI the drivers im running are the 7189's

You can't go wrong with the R8500:o It runs circles around any GeF3

quality & speed is best so far !
No big issues/1099 & drivers will improve soon too.
I do not use DVD (got Hollywood+), but fps are skyhigh - up to 177fps/1024x768x32 in MDK2

Also, the card runs cool, but would p'bly need some hsinks if o'ced

I appreciate your enthusiasm for the R8500 and you have got some good scores out of the card.

However, it does not run circles around all GF3s. It outperforms the first generation GF3 (four months old now) but it falls short of the Ti500.
Sadly, it seems ATI may never catch up.

thanx bajo....i'll be searching now for a canadian distributor and try to get the best price. I'm not a GF fan, never was...so ATI it is. I've always owned an ATI card and don't intend to jump ship. Thanx for the info

Hows it going?

Have yet to see any Ti-500 scores yet, but, will concede if this new GF pans out.

As an owner of an 8500- not too glad to see it.
As a pc component consumer-Glad to see competition.

I still think this 8500 is AWESOME!
For those interested, I have o'clocked to 295/295 with a 3dmk2k1 score posted on madonion. Last time I checked it was the highest p3-Radeon8500 posted-7000 or so.
