10230.

This is on a system with default settings using PC2100 Generic RAM. I'm waiting on a stick of PC2700 Corsair Xtreme RAM.

Should that make a major difference?
if you tweak the ramsettings it will give you a little boost :0

does a 24-bit z-buffer depth help performance over 32bit?

Hmmm, I thought that was default. I'll have to try 32bit and see what the difference is.

Unhappy

Hey, I'm running this system:

P4 2.53 o'c 2.75
ASUS P4PE
512 MB PC2700
Gigabyte Maya II 9700 Pro

I'm getting very low scores on 3dmark2001.
I've got 12731.
From what I see, this is very low for my system

Any suggestions?

Well, here's another wierd thing, when I overclock the CPU, i.e. from 2.53 to 2.85, the benchmark result in 3dmark2001, went DOWN from about 12500 to 8000.
Any ideas?

Have you made sure that you have the latest updates for you Video, chipset and MOBO? When I first set up my new system and ran 3dmark it looked horrible until I installed the latest ATI drivers then it took off. Try and make sure you have everything up to date and also, post here what you set as far as BIOS settings for things like Vcore and video and ram voltage as well as your Ram timings.

3DMark at DEFAULT values on Win2K, Intel INF's, IAA. Apps running in the background: Zone Alarm, NS Notify (email checker), MBM5 and Crystal Control LED Driver. No tricks or shortcuts, only O/C. Score in sig...
