HOLY CRAP. Well, I feel so inferior posting my 3DMark score but here goes.

This is with:

3500+ NewCastle
7800GTX Stock
1gb OCZ El Platinum Rev. 2
7,200rpm Diamond Max 10 16mb 300gb SATA hd (running in IDE for now)

EDIT! UPDATE!!!!

Ok, I defraged and overclocked my GPU up to 490mhz and 1300mhz. I got this score:

Here's what I ran before that with the cards on stock air no mods:

Nice scores, no lag in games with those type of scores....

Yep just like they say. The 3 main things to get high scores in 3Dmark05 is processor, processor, processor. Memory plays a small role in comparison. Video is important but look at eva up there smoking my boots with 2 x 7800gtx 256mb editions. In fact I noticed only a slight increase from stock 2.8 to an even 3.0 with same HTT. HTT from what I have seen is the money maker here. I mean tell me if I'm wrong. Unfortunately for me this abit fatality doesn't like increased bus speeds. Solid as hell at 15X 1.5vcore but not a whole lot of gain. I know I will never match the DFI Lanparty HTT speeds but I would think I could do a little better than what I'm doing. If anyone knows how to get a little more out of this one I'm all ears. Totally awsome score and WOW again at getting up to 3.825 on the FX/57

Dont feel bad, I just ran it for the first time to see what mine would do. I only run a 7800 GT with a P4 640 and 4 gig of DDR2 in dual channel. All at stock speeds, and I get 6972. Everything bone stock. That is plenty fast for any game out right now. I can run BF2 on all high settings at 1280x1024 with 4xAA and still pull around 60FPS. That is all the gaming I do right now, so I am happy. I don't see where spending another $300 to run SLI and get 40 FPS will make the game any more playable.

I usually play at 1600x1200 16xSLiAA and I have to say I am totally spoiled now. I was down to one card while BFG was replacing the one I f'ed up. Damn good company by the way. They made a lifetime customer over that. I could tell the difference big time in some games like F.e.a.r. or c.o.d.2. hardly any in some. All I can say is if you have never tried something it's hard to know. $300 more for SLi? heh heh

The human eye can olnly see 60FPS maximum. So what possible benefit are you getting from having 100+ FPS? If you like it great. I just couldn't justify the extra $300 to play a $40 game. Not to mention most games out right now aren't even optomised for SLi or crossfire.

It's kinda hard to explain but SLi gives it a kinda liquid quality that you don't quite have with one card, that is perceptible. Is it really necessary? No of course not. Just some of us like to take it as high as it will go. Nothing better to do with our money I guess. I was laughing at the "extra $300" part because it was actually more like $750 for the extra card and a PSU to push it. Sad part is in another month there will be the new king of the block. Computer hardware doesn't exactually appreciate lol. I envy the guys who get new hardware to test for free and can burn them as much as they want and get to play with the new technology as often as it comes out.

It was going to be $300 for me when I upgraded my system. I could have gotten the gigabyte Nforce4 Sli MB for about the same price as I paid for my 945 chipset MB, I was already replacing the PSU with a 600W OCZ PSU, so for me it would have been a matter of just buying another 7800 GT. I seriously considered it, but in the end voted against it as there aren't a ton of games yet that are optomised for it yet.

The 2 games that I really noticed a difference are Call Of Duty 2 (which actually does have an option for 2 video cards) and F.E.A.R. ID games like Quake 4 or Doom 3 really didn't benifit from it much. I didn't see any real improvement to half life 2 either but a little in half life 2 Lost Coast. I can't wait till they come out with Aftermath as Half life 2 is easily my favorite.

Was finally able to get a higher score by increasing the CPU to 2.85, with a 3MHz drop on the GPU. Turned off some services and removed my TV tuner card. The BIOS has an option to turn off any PCI slots that are not in use. Don't know if really does anything but even at default CPU/GPU speed, scores increased by a 100+. Anyways, got as close to 11,000 as I can.

10945

I would love to try some other drivers, like the 77.81 and 78.01's. I bet I could get a higher score. Unfortunately, the setup won't recognize my GPU and won't continue the install. I wonder if I could force the drivers through device manger? They probably won't work correctly anyways. Oh well.

Huh I could of sworn that the 3700+ was a socket 754 chip. I guess they must have made it in 939 if it fits in that mobo. Are you able to increase HTT speed more that a few steps? Not me, I can raise it more as I turn down the multiplier but seem to hit a wall at around 3.1g or so no matter what I do. Still I seem to get more out of it at higher HTT at 3g then stock HTT at around the same frequency. I am seriously thinking about replacing my DFI Lanparty mobo. I have to do somethng with the one I have anyway. They should replace it. It was defective before I burned it up lol. Anyway nice score
