| Re: what do you use to design a web site? Wow, old thread. Never build Flash-only websites. Use HTML+JavaScript (+AJAX) instead. Works on all platforms, without plug-ins. It's in the spirit of the WWW. Flash isn't.

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? Done everything from emacs to MS Word docs auto converted to HTML and then tweaked with a simple editor (for HTML help docs) to some Dreamweaver - but I don't do a lot of web stuff. |

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? Hey, at the time (circa 2001) it worked. I had a bunch of word docs with pictures I needed to put into HTML to include in a desktop Java application. The conversion went well and I just had to tweak it to fix some incompatibilities with Java's built in HTML engine and fix some things so context sensitive help would work. It was a lot easier than re-doing the whole thing from scratch |

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? I used MS Word once...it generates an incredible amount of code. I didn't like it at all. I use Netscape Composer and I tweak it with Notepad. It's the best combination I've been able to find. |

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? I used to use Fusion, but these days I just use CMS software like Joomla to do all of the work.

Using Flash hides the lack of knowledge in how to do something the right way imo. Its more for shared objects and communication (is it media now?) server. Which most Flash people don't even know exist. Hardcore design is pure CSS. And to those using Frontpage......shame on you!

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? For writing code: Amaya. I do not use the WYSIWYG editor. It's not the best editor and it has it's flaws but it catches any mistakes I make. |

I will sort of echo what a few others said. My advice is ---> Do not use Flash on links. If I can't right click on a link and open it in a new tab or window, then I'm gone. The website will lose more than my sale because I will spead the word to not buy from that website. I'm not the only one who feels that way. So website designers take WARNING!!!

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? Layouts in PS CS3, then html/css in Dreamweaver CS3. Standard procedure. I used Fireworks for a while, and while it's great for quick graphics jobs, nothing tops Photoshop |

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? My website was made by using GoLive CS. But today my webdesigner uses Joomla, a Content Management System software. Not too many people here use this type of Webdesign software, which surprises me. Here is another thread on this topic: Joomla! Content Management System (CMS) |

| Re: what do you use to design a web site? Anyone know of flash software for Linux, specifically Ubuntu? I use SwishMax2 in Windows but it is Windows-based only. I haven't tried installing it with Wine yet. |
