to be honest $40 for two version of a product is pretty cheap considering how many days you're going to have that for. And the banner ad isn't intrusive at all if you fancy trying the free version.
2. Opera seems to be very well coded, that inticates to me there are probably not that many security holes, however I am no expert on the subject of security.

I reviews it from a standpoint of the amount of features and it got more than most browsers. It free to try with no evaluation period. The whole point of the article is there are more ways to look at the internet than just IE and firefox. Choose a browser to suite your needs.
you don't get the point I was trying to make...I stated right off that Opera was a great browser...but why would anyone pay for a browser when there are similar alternative FREE browsers out there??...it would make more sense if all browsers were not free but they are...unless Opera served up something so special or unique then how can they justify charging people??...it's like if ATI started making free X850 video cards and Nvidia continued charging people for their similar card

Opera seems well coded now because it is not a mainstream browser...Firefox was in a similar position not too long ago but recently look how many security issues have popped up in Firefox...the reason is because more people are starting to use it therefore explots will invariably pop up

Did you read my review? I can say there are features that are not in other browsers that I have used I think I spent 2-3 pages pointing it out.
Also it is a well thought out bit of kit, it makes browsing the web comfortable. Tabs are implemented far better than firefox i.e. instead of a second thought it built about it. Opera is faster than firefox and it renders the page better (firefox has a very irritating thing where it renders most of the page while downloading then when you flicked to the bottom of the page it will load something at the top and then you have to flick to the bottom again, Opera does not do this).

In fact it does soo much stuff better I was impressed Like I said in the review.

Opera is a company that are owned probably by shareholders that want to see profit and growth, they are't going to start giving it away completely free that would be stupid would it not?

It got a positive review from me because it is soo good, I also said it worth paying for because I think it is worth paying for.

All this because it isn't mainstream bull doesn't hold water with me, it a myth as far as I am concerned. Opera has had a very good history with security and will continue to do so. it appears well coded because it is.

Yes Opera does have some features that are not in other browsers...BUT are those features so groundbreaking or monumental that it will change the future of browsers???...Firefox had a groundbreaking feature called Tabbed Browsing which IE will soon implement...if there is nothing extraordinary about Opera then I cannot justify them charging people for it...

when talking about page rendering speed, Firefox is fine...I mean how much faster can you get?...1 nanosecond or two does not make much of a difference in the bigger picture...heck even IE renders pages just fine for me...I honestly think that sometime down the line Opera is gonna stop charging people and just release a full featured free version of its browser...they have to do it for their survival

the security issues will come when Opera becomes more popular...just ask the makers of Firefox...viruses are even coming onto the Mac so I doubt Opera is invulnerable to viruses

you are the one who is missing the point, those features do not exist in other browsers. If you browse the web a lot and use it like I do, then those features are worth paying for. it makes browsing the web efficient it easier and it is well done.

yes the free alternative will do, you can use a push-bike to get almost anywhere but it far easier by car. the analogy between firefox and Opera is easily seen.
