ati2dvag.dll infinite loop FIX & QUESTION

The Solution of "Cobrakaun" Worked Well with Me, THANKS A MILLION. I have been stuck in this for a month now. I even made FULL recovery to the the Laptop with no hope till applying this. Now we are restoring everything allover again.
My Question Now: How can we describe this problem. Is it a Hardware Fault or a Software drivers conflict. How come the Laptop worked with previous settings quiet awhile with no problems then all of a sudden this problem is generated, that needs to change the chipset driver from default to make it work out.
I just need to make sure it is not A HARDWARE FAULT. My laptop is new in warrenty period so do I return it back for replacements.
Could this be a Graphic Card H/W fault or a Motherboard H/W fault

Please advice

Thanks a lot again

I have: ATI RS200/RS200M/RS250M Accelerated Graphic Ports instead. Is this the
same as CPU to AGP controller that cobrakaun is saying? Please please let me know. I'm typing with the messed up screen as we speak!

It could be, but it would be easier to help pinpointing the right one if you listed all of the available devices.

It looks like you're on the right track. At least to me it looks like the best candidate.

Sorry it's taken me so long, but I was gone for the week away on my lap top. I tried changing it and it worked pretty well for a while. Unfortunately, it's back to doing the infinite loop again. Is it because I have two PCI-to-PCI bridges now? Or is that just not the right one?

Please help! I am having many problems. Whenever I play 3D Games, it just freezes up, once I got a VPU Recovery Error. After it locks up it just turns into a gray or yellow screen, until i just shutdown my power. If I play 2D games, (good quality ones) like the ones on (Just google experimentalgames) it freezes and then a blue screen pops up, and it says a Stop Error occurred. Problem: ati2dvag

And it has a bunch of numbers next to the stop error, etc. Please help, I just bought this computer brand new from Dell, and Dell has not helped me, even after talking to literally 12 different techs within the last month, the problem is still unresolved.

I have done absolutly everything I have been told to do. I have reinstalled drivers, cleared memory, defragmented, etc. etc. I even reformatted the whole PC once, and still it doesnt work. Could this possibly be my graphic card? ATI Radeon X300 128 MB. Although some of the 2D games definetly should be working even with an Integrated Graphic Driver, that comes default with my Dell Dimension. I decided to upgrade.. obviousily was that the wrong choice?

Which model of Dell do you have? Dimension ????

Check to see if you have onboard graphics as well. If you do, pull the video card and use the onboard graphics and see if the issue persists. If you don't, do you have a spare video card that you can try?

What has Dell had you do thus far?

Have you tried the things already suggested in this thread?

Dell Dimension 4700. We upgraded everything. 3.2 Ghz, 160 GB hdd, 1 GB of Memory. And we upgraded the graphic card, and it can't even play simple 2D GAMES!?!!? I am extremely PO'ed, I have literally killed myself about 6 times within the last month, I have stayed up all night and morning a couple days straight trying EVERYTHING.

I was told to (and I did it):

1) Empty Temp Files and Cache, etc.
2) Reinstall the Game
3) Reinstall the Drivers
4) Decrease Graphic Acceleration
5) Increase Virtual pager file size (Or something like that)
6) Reformat my PC

I have been fed a bunch of BS, I don't even remember what else I was told to do. At the moment Dell is coming to replace it. I had to FORCE them to do it. It seems I have done everything in my power to fix this. The repair person is coming tommorow. In the mean time can someone tell me what I should do? I tried what was mentioned in this thread, but I am not sure if I updated the drivers for the right device, because it said Intel (some #'s) to I/O Controller (or something like that, it said I/O Controller at the end though)

Hey,

Did they have you do a CTRL-F11 to do a PC Restore? That puts things back to the day the machine was purchased. All Dell Dimension and OptiPlex's from Sept 2004 on have this feature. It is extremely nice. If doing the PC Restore didn't fix it, then one of couple things are at issue here, either the image for doing the PC Restore you have on the drive is bad, or there is a hardware issue.

If the image on your drive is bad, then they can send a set of CD's that will reimage the drive, as long as you are within the first 3 months of purchase, after that, you are left reinstalling using the Microsoft Windows XP Home CD for reinstalling your operating system and the Dell Dimension Resource CD and the Dell Application CD and don't forget your Modem driver CD if you have a dialup modem.

If it is a hardware issue, then the two pieces that I could see needing replacement are either the motherboard and/or the video card. Hopefully they have sent you both.

On a side note, it is Dell policy to troubleshoot with a customer to determine the problem and then act accordingly, i.e., send you the parts that need to be replaced. I am not sure of what each call you had with a tech was like but 12 calls on the same issue is excessive IMO also.

Have you asked to speak with a second level technician about the issue or a manager?

Interesting, doesn't exactly say how they are going to fix your problem. Who cares if there are like people who know what they are talking about? The manager needs a little work on their ability to produce a good customer experience. The fact that it is a phone line that costs money shouldn't be a concern of theirs, fixing your problem should be.

Okay, a better description:

I just tried updating the drivers of like every device, just incase I did the wrong one, and when I played Priston Tale (Just google it, I cant put links in here) i got about 5-10 minutes of solid gameplay, seamless barely any lag, until it just randomly froze. i could still hear the audio and the noises the little monsters were making.. And then it turned black, and if I clicked my mouse button, the audio would get softer and softer (As if I was walking away from the fighting), because I was still in-game!! I just realized that, no visual on the game, but for about 30 seconds, with a frozen screen, and then another 20 seconds with a black screen Im still in-game. Then it turns into a pixelated screen that is sometimes gray or yellow, and if I click and drag from side to side, it 'opens' and 'closes' like a blind effect. I cannot restore my computer until I turn my power off/on.

Definitely sounds hardware related since you have reinstalled everything.

Did they say what they are replacing when they come out?
