Red Zot:- "so how does your fix apply to PCI X I tried your fix but the listings under system in DM are totally different. little help here would be great!" I have a PCI-ex card (ASUS X800XT PE) and I got this fix to work using the DM setting "Intel(R) 82801FB LPC Interface Controller - 2640" I then followed his instructions, but changing the driver to the "PCI standard ISA bridge" one. It didn't help, but when I then set it to the "Microsoft 82801FBLPC Interface Controller" it seemed to fix the problem and I haven't crashed since - about eight hours in-game. Which isn't bad considering it was crashing every 15 mins before.

I'm trying to follow Cobrakaun's fix, but I too can't find my version of the CPU to AGP controller. Here's what comes up for me under System Devices ACPI Fixed Feature Button Direct memory access controller ISAPNP Read Data Port Microcode Update Device Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System Microsoft System Management BIOS Driver Motherboard resources (3 of these listed) NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management NVIDIA nForce2 AGP Host to PCI Bridge NVIDIA nForce2 Memory Controller (5 of these listed) PCI bus PCI standard host CPU bridge PCI standard ISA bridge PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator Programmable interrupt controller System Board System CMOS/real time clock System speaker System timer A lot of stuff there. I'm guessing one of the NVIDIA listings is the right one, but I don't know which. Any help would be fantastic! This problem has been around intermittently for months, but I've started playing SWG and as of yesterday I can't even log on anymore--I crash to desktop and once got a blue screen error saying my ati2dvag was stuck in an infinite loop. For future reference when I get my new computer next year, anyone know of a decent, not too expensive video card that doesn't have this kind of issue? Thanks!

Sorry to drag this thread up again, but ugh, what a nightmare. Took delivery of a new laptop the other day- was absolutely fine, no problems whatsoever, until I did Windows Update and the problems have gone on since then. I tried to do a System Restore to before the Update, but no luck. What is odd is that it only seems to happen with me when the battery on the laptop gets below or near to 20%. I have no AGP-CPU controller listed in the System list, so not really sure what to try. Would it be worth wiping the entire system, starting over, and just not doing Windows Update? It's a total nightmare.

Thanks cobrakaun!!! [quote=cobrakaun]A FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME AND A BUNCH OF OTHER PEOPLE!! READ ON! I've had this problem for about two years off and on. A few months ago I ran across the pci-to-pci bridge fix and implemented it and it worked wonderfully. I never had the problem again. Then two weeks ago I had to install winxp pro on a new hard drive and the problem came up again. I searched for this fix and tried it again and the problem is solved for the second time. Thanks a lot for the info cobrakaun!!!

I tried this fix on a Toshiba Satellite laptop (A60-S156) to no avail. My question is WHY IS THIS STILL A PROBLEM? I have been scouring the web looking for a fix and I have found posts going back to 2001. The laptop I am having this problem on is one of 6 in my care. This laptop was in use for about 8 months before the problem arised. The other 5 are fine and are using the AGP graphics adapter un-hacked. I even performed a system restore booting from the CD and still am having the same problem. Like most other seemingly unanswerable problems I keep asking myself why!??!? Why did this just start? Why doesn't Microsoft, ATI, nVidia, ACPI (bios), etc. fix this?!? Why doesn't the companies that make these components determine what is causing this - and not just give it lip service? For example, on ATI's website they claim they are still gathering information about this problem - since 2002! For now, I am able to use the laptop and seem to be able to do everything I need just by disabling the ATI display adapter. This causes Windows to use the VGASave adapter. Now, the only question I have (and if any of you gurus can answer I would appreciate it) is: Is it ok to run the machine with the AGP adapter disabled and use the VGASave adapter indefinitely? Thanks for the vent! Charles

In the end my toshiba m50 is back again... I have had the same problem as all of you had. My Toshiba M50 had the "infinite loop" thing and the deadly blue screen related to the ati2dvag.dll. I have read all the threads here. Tried nearly all of them. In the end here is how I finally managed to make it work again. It is a little bit of long process... Installed a clean WinXP with SP1a Installed all drivers except video/display adapter Installed SP2 Installed Omega drivers (Catalyst 5.12) {Great thanks to omegadrivers.net team} My notebook seems to be back right now...It worked out well for me. Damn Toshiba/ATi for not advising a solution...This is the last time I am using their products. Now I will try BF2 and see what happens ! Wish me luck :-)

Cobrakaun, you are my Hero! I had this problem only for 2 days, but for me it didn't happen on some particular games but right at the boot, so I was really going crazy. You are really a genius! Gosh, I have no idea what this fix is doing, but it just works! How did you get to it? And how comes no developper has fixed it already, man! It is so good to have people like you to save a million people their day in just one post. I know there are quite a few people still trying to figure out how to solve this on other forums. I'll quote you and redirect to this -great- forum. Geez, that feels good! Ama

I tried cobrakaun's fix with the added info from Hugospot and the fix worked for one day, but is no longer working. I changed the drivers for this DM setting Intel(R) 82801FB LPC Interface Controller - 2640 yesterday and my game ran smoothly for a number of hours, but today it is no longer working under these settings I have completely ran out of ideas to fix this infinite loop problem. I have seemingly tried everything.
