A7N8X Deluxe - further questions

My system:
Athlon XP 2400+ on a A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
w/ 2x 256 Crucial pc3200 Ddr Ram
Windows XP Pro

Whats going on:

Whenever I set my system to defaults, it sets the Memory Frequency to Auto it sets it to 166Mhz. When I run it at that speed I get a blue screen of death while loading into windows XP pro. I'm not sure what the screen all says because it automatically restarts on reaching the screen (I'm not sure how to turn that off)

Right now I have my system running at the "By SPD" rather than Auto Memory Frequency which ends up being 200mhz. Every time my system restarts i see Memory Frequency is at 200mhz. When I do this, the system will load into windows. I do however get a message saying that Windows has recovered from a serious error or something to the sort.

Ram Specifics in BIOS
SDRAM Active Precharge Delay 8 7
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay 4 4
SDRAM RAS Precharge delay 4 4
SDRAM CAS Latency 3T 3T

(The first numbers above are at the 200mhz mem frequency, the 2nd is the 166mhz)

Second.. Randomly my computer beeps at me while in windows. Somtimes it will go days without beeping, while others I will hear it beep multiple times per day. It sounds the same as the beep it makes when it restarts (the one its supposed to make). According to my manual, the only info it has about beeps when system is working is "High Frequency beeps when system is working" which means the CPU overheated or the system is running at a lower frequency. I didn't know if this beep was considered a "High Frequency beep" or not.. so I decided to check my system temp in the BIOS. They appear as:

Board Temp: Between 91 degrees F and 96 degrees F
CPU Temp: Between 100 degrees F and 104 degrees F.

Is this too hot? I have a full tower case that has a case fan on the side and a case fan in the back. I was thinking of putting the side case fan in the front. Should I add another fan in front instead?

Please help me out

-Nick

1. You bought 200MHz memory, so use it @ 200MHz.
The memory manufacturer should have the correct settings for you if you do not what to use the auto values (aka use the user defined settings).

2. The beeps could be the ASUS Probe utility reporting violations. Check that first. Also, go into your BIOS and enable the voice messaging to debug your problems. You temps do not seem too high... could be a bug in the OS... you at SP1? If not download and see how that treats you.

Good luck

if you're running your cpu at default speed, try this, set mem to 100% (sync) set timings to manually 6,2,2,2. see if it will boot.

the a7n8x doesn't seem to like slower (high) numbers timings from what I've read.

If it doesn't boot, try 7,2,2,2.

let us know what you get.
