When you buy an Alienware slowdowns are unacceptable.

Well, I would love to see actual screen shots demonstrating your claims. I do not believe that a 2.4 laptop with PC2100 RAM and an ATI 9000 mobility can score benchmarks like that. So, post screen shots with the FPS showing, and then I'll accept your claims.

I say, find a DFI Infinity nF2 board, a 2500+ mobile CPU, a good HSF, and get some PC 3200 or better memory. Top it off with a 9800 Pro and you got a pretty good frag machine. I play Ut2k4 at 1280x1024 no AA/AF and it is smooth as can be on my machine. I was getting some slow downs till I reset the sound options. After that, smooth as can be!

did a google on Alienware Area-51m

found this "horror story"

but then again computers donīt always meet your expectations...

but claimed performance is hard to believe

but :alien:ware could do some magic... to gameplay in UT2004

Well, we will see, one way or another, when he posts the screen shots.

Let's just make a small wager, no money, that he never posts those screen shots. I have an ATI Mobility 9000 in my laptop, with a similar setup, except that I have a gig of ram in a Dell, and couldn't even come close to 40FPS in a game like that. Now with a 3.06 P4B HT, well you just might. But a 2.4 P4A? Personally, I seriously doubt that his laptop would give that kind of performance no matter what kind of tweeks Alienware gave it.
