Asus A7S333 boot or power issue, jumper Okay, i'm having some seriously strange problems with my Asus a7s333. First, is a problem i thought had stopped, but obviously laid dormant, my system has severe difficulty booting. It refuses to restart, it shuts off, and when i attempt to boot it up again immediately after, it's almost like it tries to start, like a dying car, and then shuts off. i dont even get anything on the screen, lights come on, fans spin, but about a second after i let go of the button, poof, it shuts off. And if i do make it to the bios, when i exit the bios, it shuts off, and when i try again, same thing, bios comes up. Telling me the cpu is hanging at incorect speeds.repear cycle. i changed the jumpers, tried every setting. nothing helped. so i'll spend 20 minutes trying to get my system running, like a finnicky car on a cold day. extremely aggrivating, also, i've lost power to my cpu power spots on my board. totally dont work, i have the cpu fan running through a power supply wire via attachment. once its running it goes fine, no random boots or anything. its very strange it's driving me mad. is there no hope, is this board dead

Hah, I thought I was the only one... I bought this board together with a Duron 1.2Ghz for a buddy and this damn board did this mess from day 1. It ain't the power supply, I bought a brand 350W thing (can't remember the brand right now). It will sporadically recognize the CDROM Master on IDE2, then again it won't. It'll boot on the first attempt sometimes, then sometimes, I gotta play morse code on the reset button for 5 minutes until it comes on. It will NEVER restart when I click restart in Windows XP, instead just sits there with blank screen and IDE light flashing. My question: do you have a PCI GFX-Card or AGP? Also, it did the "loose the BIOS settings every boot" thing for a while, until I took the battery out over night, ever since then, it kept them (battery is still at 3V, so it's OK). Once it boots, it runs pretty good. But it's a pain getting there... What's your status?

Asus A7S333 boot problems I bought this mobo brand spankin' new about two years ago (purchased in March 2003). I have had this trouble from the beginning. Started having keyboard issues too (keyboard would hang or get stuck holding down a key---I'd have to unplug the keyboard to correct the problem). I finally returned the mobo to ASUS for a replacement. Got a new A7S333. Guess what...same problems (no more keyboard stuff though). Still having boot trouble at this very moment. My system with this mobo is not starting. When it does boot, it'll power off right away, or if not it'll go directly into setup and tell me that my CPU speed is incorrect and that the previous post failed because of the incorrect CPU setting. That's wrong. I know that my CPU is set correctly. However, there are the few times that it does start. WHen this happens, the system runs like a dream come true...until I have to restart...then that dream becomes a nightmare. I have changed power supplies, CPU and memory, updated BIOS, nothing has fixed this problem. (By the way, the CPUs, RAM and P/S all tested okay with other mobos.) My guess is that ASUS really screwed the pooch with this one. I have seen MANY prople posting on forums such as this one who have had or are having the EXACT same problem. No solutions or explainations as to what is going wrong or what went wrong.

been so long since I've seen a post, thought this forum was abandoned! karlwilbur, As my title said, I thought this was an abandoned forum. But apparently, there are others that will post here.Yes, you are VERY correct....this seems to be a reoccuring problem with the A7S333. If you are having the same problem with your A7S333, lemme give you a bit of advice....IT'S A GARBAGE BOARD! Don't waste your time and stress levels trying to figure out something that is just, simply put, a LEMON! This board was a mistake from the start...a 'time bomb' if you will. Just a matter of time b4 it takes a crap.I have a cheap solution for you. If you have this board, and you want/need a board that all of your accessories/hardware will work with...then I've got the solution for you, and rather inexpensive. I don't know when you are reading this post, but prices change every month, at least, when dealing with technology (any computer buff knows that). I am posting this in February of 2005. Anyhow, here is where you need to go to replace that defective Asus A7S333 crappy motherboard. If you replace the Asus A7S333 with the Chaintech 7NJL6, you will NOT be disappointed. Currently, it goes for $53.00 plus only $2.99 fedex saver shipping at Newegg!!!!! Everything you have in that A7S333 will fit in this board and you'll be SOOO much happier. Easy transfer over and setup. APPARENTLY, for some reason, this forum doesn't want me to post any links of any kind, so simply go to NewEgg and type 7NJL6 in their search engine. It'll take you DIRECTLY where you want to go to buy this board (or simply just check it out). If this link doesn't work, simply type 7NJL6 in newegg's search engine and it should pop up, unless by the time you read this post...it's already not sold new anymore. At that point, I'd go to Ebay and search for one of these Chaintech boards. See, not only will this Chaintech board take anything you could have put in the Asus A7S333...but you will have SERIOUS upgrading possibilities with the Chaintech....where with the A7S333.....hardly any. Not to mention the bugs and defects with the A7S333. If you are one of the FEW that actually made an A7S333 work for you for longer than a year...then either you are VERY lucky......or probably you only turn your computer on about once every few days. Best of luck to all with this board. DreamerSpawn
